can anyone recommend the travel sickess wristbands to help with motion sickness? I seem to be getting worse as I get older. At DL earlier this year I felt quite bleugh after 2 rides on SM-it normally takes at least 5 AND a dole whip before that happens:rotfl: I also felt worse on their ST than normal, but that might have been because we were on the front row. Anyhoo, can anyone of a similairly delicate nature say if they found the bands a help or failing that anything else that works. Not going on the rides is NOT an option!

I take a prescription motion sickness med called meclizzine. It works really good for me. I tried the bands with little luck.

I'm a firm believer in Bonine. It doesn't make you drowsy feeling like Dramamine. If you have severe motion sickness, you could always a prescription for the patch worn behind the ear. We used those on a cruise, and they did well.

I sure would like to find something that works. Tried Bonine, with limited success. My kids love all the motion simulators. I can get by on most of them alright, but they do get me when the ride is uncrowded and they say "Let's ride it again!". Simpson's ride @ Universal almost got me, had to close my eyes to make it. They loved it! Anxious to hear more feedback.

I have not tried the bands but the prescription patches work great. It does not make me drowsy, however if you go with the patch be prepared for dry mouth.

Bonine also works well for me in cars and planes, but lately when it comes to rides it is not enough.

for me Dramamine works. I get motion sickness because of stop and go traffic for a prelonged period of time (so in cars or buses and living in NYC does not help since there's ALWAYS traffic!) and I take it if I'm not feeling well, or before I get on a bus or in a car for a long trip. Give it a try 20 min or so before boarding rides? It also did me a world of good on my first cruise and kept me from getting any sort of dizzy/sea sick.

Funny though because i don't get motion sickness with rides or roller coasters or anything. Weird how the body works.

I like Bonine or Meclazine. I tried the bands and broke out into hives, I was allegric to it!:lmao: I have really bad motion sickness, I get sick just watching the carousel. Ginger pills are great too. I take a ginger pill and then if it starts to get bad take something else.

The bands work very well for me, except for the tea cups and Expedition Everest. So I just don't ride those.

I have pretty severe motion sickness, so I have tried lots of things.

For me, Dramamine (and the various knock-offs) work, but they knock me out, even the non-drowsy ones. I used the Scolpamine patches (behind the ear prescription ones) for a while, but they make me very thristy and are quite expensive, so I was still looking out for something new. I use to always watch the tv show "Mythbusters" and they did an episode on motion sickness. Based on their experiments, I decided to try Ginger Root pills. They actually work for me, I was amazed. The key is to take one BEFORE you do something that will make you sick (about 20 minutes works for me). If I push it too long and start to feel yucky, I take a second one. They do of course have their own set of drawbacks...in my case I hate the taste of ginger, and they have a strong flavor. Also, they can give you a little bit of gas, which isn't bad for me just a little belches every now and then, EXCEPT I hate the taste of ginger. LOL

The big thing with something like motion sickness is that people tend to react differently to things. Do some test runs at home before you go and see what works for you! I too am a thrill ride lover and I refuse to let motion sickness stop me! :upsidedow

I wear the Sea Bands when I fly. I don't know if they actually work but it might be more of a mental thing. I've still gotten sick. At Disney I take a Bonine every morning and then Ginger pills throughout the day. I can handle EE and SM but not back to back. Can NOT tolerate MS, Tea Cups or Simpsons over at Universal!

Another vote for GINGER PILLS!!!! Seriously the best thing I have ever tried, and I have tried everything short of the prescription medication. Like the OP, my motion sickness has been getting worse as I get older. I take them every day when I travel now.

Ginger did not work for me. Bands did nothing for me. So I guess everyone is different. Simulators bother me, so when I ride them I take either non-drousy dramamine or bonine. Read the ingredients list and you will see they are basically the exact same thing. I guess everyone is different. Maybe talk to your doctor. I do find there is not that much at disney that is really bad. Just avoid the teacups!

I wear the bands, I am really travel sick and have used the bands for the past 20 years. I used to need them for rollercoasters but can manage OK without them now. The only rides I can't do are the teacups and Mission Space spinning version (I am not sick on them but feel bad for hours after going on them.)

My brother wears Sea Bands also and swears by them, no matter how much I make fun of him! :lmao:

In all honesty though, he says they really do work for him..before the bands he took Dramamine, which never helped him much, so that must mean something! :thumbsup2
