I want to purchase travel insurance but I am not sure where to begin... 4 of us traveling from MA (WINTER) in Feb. I want coverage for possible flight cancellation, delay and coverage if we miss a night or two in Disney etc. That is all I really need it for.. Can someone help me? Thanks!

I used insuremytrip dot com for an Alaskan Cruise. They give you options of different companies as well as different levels of coverage.

It's also good to get insurance just in case someone gets hurt or ill. You can also get them with a pre-existing condition clause

Or you can arrive a few days earlier and spend the money on hotels and sightseeing.

Trip insurance is relatively inexpensive. We got insurance on our last trip that covered weather, illness, job issues etc. pretty much everything except us changing our mind for a little over $100 not enough for an extra dinner for four never mind extra hotels and sightseeing.
There was a thread yesterday about a guy injured at work that had to cancel his trip and will probably lose the money he spent on his airline tickets. If he had insurance there would be no problem getting reimbursed.

I used to think this way too. But then I looked into renting vacation club points and was worried about not being able to cancel, so I researched travel insurance and was shocked to find that you can get coverage for as little as around $100, depending on the cost of your trip and coverage desired. Having had family medical emergencies cut trips short in the past, it seems like a no brainer to cover a $5000 trip with a policy that costs me $100. Just my opinion.

Trip insurance is so inexpensive it's not worth the risk not having any. Anything unpredictable could happen. We have had medical emergencies, dental, even a car accident just prior to the trip.

Our most recent trip it was less then $100 for the week.

Trip insurance is absolutely worth it! I used ***************** and got a policy for a little over $100. I have 2 little boys who know how to derail plans by catching whatever bug their classmates are willing to share. Add that to our lovely winter storms that like to bury us in snow, trip insurance was a small price to pay for a. $5000 vacation.

What if something happens while you are there?

Extra days at the hotel, hospital visits, changing flights can add up. It's not just insurance if you can't go.

It doesn't cost that much that you could go early and spend the money.

Never purchased any insurance before.

Ditto. I prefer not to gamble by buying something with the chance I may collect. Just like I do not like to gamble going to Las Vegas and hitting the casinos. The odds are in the house's favor.
