Travel Insurance

In over 60 holidays only ever had one claim with ASDA, they rejected it, tried fighting but gave in. They changed underinsurers shortly after.
I now insure with Insure & Go, hope they are OK if we claim, they do 5 Annual policies from about £50-£130. We have the top one (Black) You can also get 16.5% cashback with Quidco.

I have used esure before. you can compare rates and get good advice on www.moneysavingexpert.com

It pays to shop around as more high street ones are a rip off.

The last travel insurance we had was 4 years ago from Thomas Cook, we had the basic insurance which was free at the time of booking but we paid the difference of about £70 for the super duper insurance and ended up needing it, I was hospitalised with Meningitis for a week over Christmas and AXA were the underinsurers and were absolutely fantastic.

I paid my £75 excess and ended up getting nearly £300 for my stay in hospital but AXA just took care of everything.

I have looked at Moneysavingexpert too but with so many to choose from and not much difference in policies I was wondering what I really should be looking for.

10 million in medical and 5 or 2 million in personal liability but what else should I really be on the lookout for?

We also use Insure and Go Black Policy, nvere had to claim though so cannot be sure about that side of things

we used money saving expert as well and got an annual policy for the four of us for about £40.

Just read cover very carefully. I went for cheapest with ASDA and they wouldn't pay.
Insure and Go have cover from under £60 but I would rather pay for their top cover (just renewed at £118) 3 x medical cover, no excess etc.
I know nothing about the £40 cover, it could be better than my £118 policy but make sure it covers your needs.

We have an all risks policy from Direct Line for all 4 of us.

3 Adults and one child (diabetic) comes in at £120 for a year, but everything is covered.

try.travel web insurance{recommend-whichmagazine} we have used them twice in the last 2 years and we have had to make two claims and they paid straight up {great service and it was cheap} £40

I think it is really important to consider the level of cover and not just the price. Unfortunatley for us travel insurance web would not be suitable, if for no oher reason, the peronsal belongings cover is only £250. Need to also consider the total price of your holiday and whether the limits cover this, how much cash you take with you, baggage cover etc, etc. Many people take camcorders, laptops, camera and lenses, jewelary etc.

Good luck

If you had added MP3 players, Headphones, two way radios, mobile phones, satnavs..............I woulda sworn that you had been looking at what my two teenagers pack :thumbsup2

Kids, why do they need to be fully connected wherever they go?

:rotfl:

DD is heading that way at the age of 10.

At my age I am just grateful if anything is connected :lmao:

With personnel baggage, it's sometimes worth checking out your house insurance. If your contents covers you for 'anywhere in the world', you can use that if you need to claim. Again you would have to check out limits and excesses as they all vary, but normally the limits are higher.

We're using the AA this year, used Direct Line last. They weren't the cheapest but were the best value I could find for a good amount of cover in relation to the price. When it comes to travelling to the US I think it's good to be extra careful. As Wayne mentioned be sure to go through Quidco, often insurance gives a pretty good percentage as cashback (I got £8 back from the AA)

Another one here that uses insure and go. Virgin have a buy one adult get a child for free but still works out more than the £42ish im paying with insure and go for the same cover

We always use Atlas insurance we get a yearly policy that covers travel everywhere including usa and canada, the cost this year for 2 adults (1 being diabetic) 3 children £93.00
I always check that there is plenty of medical cover, they always have a better costing on family cover. I would reccomend them.
