Travel Insurance Question

I am trying to find travel insurance for my DFIL who has a pre-existing heart condition.

Questions are does anyone know who I could get him coverage for cancellation and medical but not his pre-exist condition with?

Are there any companies that offer coverage for the pre-existing conditions?

Royal Bank has good travel insurance, and they will cover him for other things, just not the pre-existing condition.

In November 2007 my DH 54 had a heart attack, never sick a day in his life, then suddenly life turned upside down. We were scheduled for holidays in March 2008, so of course our ongoing travel protection would not cover him because of his heart attack 3 months prior. We called our local CAA and she put us onto another company that would write up a Medical Underwriters Policy that would cover him for absolutely everything up to $5,000,000.00. Price tag was over $600.00 for the 3 week insurance coverage, but we didn't mind just having the peace of mind that he was covered if anything happened to him was well worth it. Being able to go away and rest to us was part of his overall recovery.

If you go on caa's website www.caasco.ca you should find the medical forms etc that he would have to fill out to determine coverage....the answers on the form will determine which plan he qualifies for and will also speak to his pre existing condition and whether or not it would be covered (based on stability).....if he couldn't be covered based on this form then as a PP stated there is an underwriting dept that gets more specific and often will cover.

Typically this will refer to the medical portion of the insurance only. The cancellation/interruption portion doesn't ask medical questions, I believe it just wouldn't cover a pre-exisiting medical condition that has not been stable for 12 months, it may have other medical exclusions as well.
