travel insurance for offsite booking?

Staying offsite, Windsor Hills in January. I would like to purchase travel insurance in case travel is impossible due to very bad weather, or serious illness that would prevent travel. Does offsite travel insurance exist, and if so, can you recommend a provider?

We are Canadian residents, so the companies from whom coverage is available will be different for us than for you (assuming you are a US resident). But yes, independent policies are available for purchase for offsite stays.

In the past, we have purchased travel insurance from RBC, Manulife Financial and Desjardins Financial. We now have coverage via our RBC Visa, so we no longer need a stand-alone policy for our vacations (assuming our flights, accomodations, etc. are all booked and paid for via the Visa). The Visa comes with a $140 yearly fee, but when a travel insurance policy typically totals $200+ per trip, the Visa coverage is still the best deal for us.
