Travel Insurance confusion

I've purchased insurance thru Disney for the trips when we've flown solely because you never know with flights, etc. I never buy it when we drive, but this next trip (driving) is planned for the end of August which I guess is the height of hurricane season. I've read that it's best to find an independent company because Disney charges a lot, but there are so many. Does anyone have any suggestions on a brand? I just want it to cover my entire trip if it gets cancelled or interrupted, also hurricanes of course.

Go to a site such as "insure my trip" (write as one word), where you can compare policies. Call them if you have any questions. I do not recommend Travelguard; I had to make two separate claims with them in the past year and the process was a nightmare. They used to be good, but are now terrible.

Allianz, or something like that.....a number of the major travel companies (cruise lines, airlines) offer insurance through them, but, of course, you can buy it from the Allianz web site. They give you a quick online quote with minimal information from you (date of travel, ages of travelers...).

An aggregator site of many insurance providers (like INsuremytrip) helps with comparison of pricing but buy direct from the insurance company because if you have a claim you will be dealing directly with the insurance provider (not a travel agent or aggregator website). We have bought from CSA TRAVEL PROTECTION in the past for FL/WDW and DCL cruises because they have good trip interruption coverages and are affordably priced. CSA is focused on the vacation/leisure traveler not business traveler so we found it to be a good fit.

Here is a comparison rating website that outlines the insurance companies coverages and their ratings in each area: http://travel-insurance-review.toptenreviews.com/

That is not necessarily true. The web site I mentioned allows you to compare policies, but you buy the policy directly from the insurance company.
