Hi,

This is my first-ever post, please bear with me! :flower:

I have booked and paid for a soon-to-be fabulous vacation at POR. I booked with Disney directly and declined the travel insurance. It can't rain on my vacation, right? What if I'm wrong???

Does anyone know of another company I can use to insure my trip? It's a 5-day 4-night package.

Thanks so much!

and I've gone to www.insuremytrip.com. You can put in a value per person or the overall value of the trip and compare different plans.

I would recommend only insuring the non refundable portions of your trip. If you have done a package including everything, then do the package price. Don't forget to include the price of any non refundable airfare you've purchased as well.

Check the different coverages and make sure you only purchase what you need. If you're not getting a car, then enhanced rental coverage is not needed. But make sure if you're travelling w/ kids or older adults that you check pre-existing condition clauses. Some waive them if the plan is purchased w/in a certain number of days from the first trip payment; if not, then you have a waiting period. Make sure you're outside of that waiting period. Check to see if weather related issues are covered, if you're travelling during hurricane season. Check the coverage for flight interruptions/baggage issues. Also medical coverage (but you're in FL not oversees so airlifting is probably not needed).

Hope this helps you along. Many people feel that it's a waste of money, but if you've ever had to use it, you immediately recognize the value. When you've committed thousands of dollars to a trip and the night before, one of the kids gets so sick you can't go, it is devastating. At least with the insurance, you can afford to go another time. If not, you lose much of the money and you're stuck.

I agree with Janet. I also purchased through insuremytrip.com. I have never had trip insurance before but felt since I am renting points and would lose that money if something happened, it was well worth it to spend $79 for 5 people. I will also be purchasing airline tickets and LaNouba tickets which are nonrefundable. I basically insured those costs that would not be refundable. Plus, now I could be compensated if something happens to our luggage or other things of that nature.
