Maybe one of the P/T travel agents or government empl. can offer some advise. We have everyone covered for our upcoming cruise thru 'InsureMyTrip' site. However, we are having some difficulty protecting one person's investment in our group. They are non military, but work for DoD and there is a possibility w/the world situation their leave may be revoked. Our travel ins. policy seems to cover everything fr. weather, illness, accident, death, jury duty,
military, etc. but not a government job. Does anyone have any experience w/this and know of a company that will insure you if your gov. leave is revoked? I welcome any advise. Thanks!

You may want to check out CSA at
www.csatravelprotection.com, you will probably have to call and ask them.

But, sometimes in instances like this it would be best to insure thru the provider or DCL. They are more apt to cover their own product than any other provider and for reasons others will not and they will at least let you rebook.

insuremytrip.com is just a broker for various companies, I think. They aren't the actual insurer. You need to read your specific company's policy and call them regarding your question. The policies I reviewed seemed to all say not being able to get off from work was not covered under the policy.

Right, insuremtrip.com just gives you pricing for many alternatives. I was JUST looking at policies today for my December trip and I know that I did see policies that covered military folks if leave was revoked, I just can't remember which ones. You'll need to dig into each policy and compare the terms and conditions. CSA is one that did NOT cover cancellation due to military service.

However it sounds like you're in a GRAY area since the person is not in the military but a DOD employee...and it sounds like he would possibly have his vacation revoked, it's not exactly leave, right? In that case I would suggest calling the different companies to see what their policy is.

Good luck! :)

Thanks everyone for your advise!
Yes, http://insuremytrip.com/p/gen?page=products&pid=1000&rid=23632
is a broker for many companies:
CSA, CNA, Travelsafe, TravelGuard, Travelex, Access Am, etc.

I have compared, called, etc. and not one I've found, including Disney, offer protection if your gov. leave is revoked. There are some exceptions if you are military. One alternative we're looking into is- if the trip is charged on a credit card there might be some protection. It is just sad for me to think-
after planning this for 2 years one member may not go w/his family.
Meanwhile, we will think positive.^i^
