We have a RBC gold preferred visa card, which has trip cancellation insurance on it. Unfortunately we are in the process of seeing how it works, as we had to cancel our trip to Hawaii 3 weeks ago (we should have got home last night) due to my dad having a stroke 2 weeks before we were scheduled to leave. We put in a claim for our airline tickets and the rental car we paid for, both thru the visa. We should hear back next week from visa but it didn't sound like there would be a problem.
We also have RBC out of province medical insurance. It was about 150.00/yr for a family of 4.
