Travel Experts: Is it possible to sell my Spirit Airlines tickets?

Pretty sure I already know the answer, but it never hurts to ask. I'm just hoping one of you travel experts know some way to sell my Spirit Airlines tickets.

I purchased 4 tickets from D/FW to MCO via Orbitz. I'm willing to sell them at a significant discount, to hopefully recover at least some of my money, if there's any way to do it. As you know, I had to give the names of each member of my family when I purchased the tickets, which I assume eliminates the chance of selling them.

I did purchase the insurance, but it looks like that's only for ridiculously extreme emergency situations...

Is this possible? I appreciate any advice you can give.

(Which is the case for virtually all airlines; even Southwest, which has a relatively liberal cancellation policy, requires credits to be used for the original traveler.)

You cannot transfer tickets from any airline to anyone else. Sorry.

You can buy cancel for any reason insurance, which usually needs to be purchased within a certain number of days from the ticket purchase.

One of the cheap quasi charter airlines let you transfer the ticket for a reasonable fee. Maybe Allegiant. I'm not 100% sure, I thought Spirit was one of the airlines that had an optional fee for transferring your ticket. Either I'm mistaken or that option is history.

edited to add Price shouldn't be the only factor in selecting an airline. Southwest would give you full credit for the fare you paid. The listed passenger has to fly within a year of the date you made your first reservation. Airlines have different change fees.

Good example of why people should try and get direct information from the airline rather then rely on people posting on an anonymous internet board. I was pretty sure Allegiant had that policy. I didn't know it changed.

It seems many rules pertaining to airlines have recently changed, all under the guise of "safety". It's both sad and ridiculous.

I think this rule is more under the guise of keeping entities from buying up cheap tickets and then selling them for a profit.

SWA Luv voucher can be sold. These are the vouchers you get when you volunteer to give up your seat on a oversold flight. I just gave my to my sister for her Dec ticket


But SWA Travel fund voucher can not be.

OP - what is the reason for your cancellation? I wouldn't say insurance only covers extreme situations.

You thought Spirit would allow the customer to do something that would benefit the customer? There's no way spirit would ever allow this type of transfer unless they can make more money than they could selling the original ticket

Allegiant Air and Spirit Airlines are not public charters. Each is certificated as a scheduled air carrier by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

A public charter sells tickets to the public, but charters flights from an actual scheduled or charter airline. It relies on that airline's aircraft, crews, operating certificate, maintenance, and so on.

Direct Air and MetJet were both public charters. Both failed.

Allegiant Air has a charter operation as part of the company, but it allows groups to charter FROM Allegiant Air.
