Hey All

Just got a price from Travel City Direct - Manchester to Sanford including two cars - £540 per head.

Sounds like a very good price - £250 less than Virgin.

So - anyone flown with Travel City?

How do they compare?

Thanks as ever

Crim

They don't come close to virgin or even Airtours, but they are cheap, you get what you pay for, we went with travel city sunshine first, the seats were excellent, but that's all, everything else was dreadful

well I have to argue that with you, we went with virgin last year and it was awfull, dirty plane bad mannered staff and they ran out of meals and soft drinks half way through the flight.

I have booked my third travel city direct holiday, we go in december this year. I think they are as good as any carrier to the usa. We have recieved good service both over the phone and in writing with regular statement updates.

The plane gets us where we need to be (after all it isnt that long a trip)

I wont ever go virgin again, and thats coming from a flying club gold member, who used to average 8 virgin flights a year (many through work)

at the end of the day you can pay more with virgin or pay less with tcd

we too are flying with TCD in oct05 from gatwick.we had an absolutely horrid flight with TCD last time.this however was not all ther fault.they lease an aircraft in busy times from AIR ATLANTA.this was a joke flight.m not one for neagative thoughts so we will leave it there!!!.

TCD in oure opinion is cheap n cheerful, and has already been said its only a cheap taxi in the sky, leaveing more to spend in orlando.

i would definately check to make sure its a tcd flight.

if you like seat back tvs etc this company are not for you, unless you upgrade.

hope this helps

Ditto Ditto

My travel - paid for upgrade and preseating - never got it and never got a refund - food was dreadful and the trolly dollys moody.

TCD - plane was a bit ropy but the food was good the service was excellent and the staff extremely cheerful. Yes we did have a 2 hour delay but that was due to the Gatwick baggage handlers who had loaded the plane wrong and therefore the captain would not allow the plane to go until it was sorted - we then lost our slot -
Hurricanne charlie and frances saw us stranded in Orlando but TCD staff could not have been better - they were brilliant.

Again this year we have booked with TCD using the funds that we saved by booking with them last year. If we had gone with Virgin (2004) the holiday would have been £2000.00 more.

i'm with the tcd gang! :jumping1:

have used them for 3 trips to Orlando and have never had any problems.I would advise the upgrade if you can,it will still probably work out cheaper than virgin anyway.
Also they do the early check in at lbv now,so you get rid of your cases and get your boarding card in the morning, then you can spend the whole day in the parks and get to sanford about an hour before your flight without having to worry about checking in.GREAT!! :smooth:

we agree.IMHO tcd are great value!!!.

however if it becomes air atlanta flight then the stakes change.these make easyjet and co seem concorde class :guilty:

Travelled with TCD many times, there has never been a problem, even flew with Air Atlanta and I have to say thatt was good as well, that plain has only one class anmd we were seated on the Upper deck, service was great.
Going again in August and at Christmas. I have travelled with Virgin and they were also very good but a lot more expensive.

They are all Air Atlanta planes. Some are just painted a different colour. They now own Travel City so not much chance of anything improving there.

hi there

we are a family of 5 and are also very proud owners of a condo. We will always travel with whichever airline has the cheapest flight.I feel that I would rather spend the money on the actual holiday.

Having been a member of the dis though it seems a lot of people become very concerned about the flight and I guess that if you have a fear of flying or a bad experience you would want to upgrade. My only worry is that if ever got to 'turn left' when boarding I may never want to turn right again.

Has anyone been on a travel city direct flight from cardiff? Going in Aug 2006 and hoping the flight will be ok after hearing negative reviews about them

Yes you have to phone them if you don't want the standard offering that the website allows you to book.

we have flown with travel city before and threre were no problems. in 8 days we are flying with them again only this time in the Sunshine First cabins. what are everybody thoughts on this has anybody flown in the first class bit before!
hoping it is great. :grouphug:

Hi, I'm new to all this so please be kind!!

I have nothing but praise for TCD. We have flown with them twice before and had no problems. In fact last year we were stranded due to hurricane Charley and they were wonderful. Next year we are travelling with them again and once more they have excelled. My youngest son has recently been diagnoed with a chronic illness and as a result is more at risk of DVT. I wanted to upgrade (more leg room etc) but they actually advised the cheaper option of extra legroom seats in the main cabin saving me hundreds.

From my perspective they could have just took the money and run but they didn't; they took time and effort to find out my exact requirements. IMHO you don't get what you pay for with this company, you get far more.

Hi
I have previously praised TCD for helping us out last year when a mass of linemen invaded our hotel post hurricane. They upgraded us to a 5* hotel (all 15 of us) yes the plane was a bit shoddy but the food was good and both hotels were excellent. We are going with them again (flying out bank holiday weekend) and have booked extra leg room this time. I cant believe the price difference between them and the next cheapest. Apart from one moody aire hostess on the way out, all the staff, both flights and in the TCD office on Idrive have been really nice.

When posters say "a bit shoddy" what kind of things do they mean?

I checked the website today and they say they have new flights for 2005. I wonder if these will be "a bit shoddy"? Does anyone know.

the air atlanta planes are very old...
if you are on an air atlanta, the only way of seeing the screen is by sitting on the outside of the aisle, as any other seat restricts your view of the screen at the front. as there are no seatback screens.
