I see these guys are back.

Didn't they go under last year?

Has anyone travelled with them before?

Would you book with them again?

I am in the planning stage, so sorry for all the questions!!!

Hi,

They've been bought by Virgin Holidays.

"Virgin Holidays buys Travel City Direct

(18 December 2008)
Virgin Holidays has bought the assets and trademark of Travel City Direct, part of the failed XL Leisure Group.

The Virgin-owned tour operator said it was considering the future of the Florida specialist brand and would give details in January.

The announcement follows months of speculation, with Virgin Holidays confirming it has acquired the name and database of its former rival for an undisclosed sum.

Virgin Holidays offered Travel City Direct customers the option of transfering balances on holiday bookings to destinations it serves when XL Leisure Group collapsed in September. The operator also assisted in repatriating stranded customers of Travel City Direct.

Former Travel City Direct clients wishing to book holidays to Florida are urged to contact Virgin Holidays."

Cheers,
Andy

As said its now Virgin but check prices on both sites, more people are finding Virgin holidays cheaper but some are finding the odd bargain on TCD.

I used to always book with TCD and was a diehard supporter of them. Sad to say that there prices seem shocking compared to what they used to offer, also very sad that they no longer offer flydrive - they just direct you to Virgin Atlantic :confused3.

This year I am booking with Virgin Holidays - something I thought I would never say!!

We were let down by TCD last year but have been with them for the last three trips. Have found nothing wrong with them but then again I didn't expect the world.
Found a v.good price for 4 adults and 2 children ( car ,flight and hotel)to go on 14.10.09 to 29.10.09 (includes our half term)£3200. Thought it was a good price and booked within 2 days of looking at the new TCD website. A week later the price was already up by £1000. Because you now fly with virgin you get the extra bagage and can book your seats as standard.
Depends what you're looking for and how much you can afford. We weren't planning on going this year but couldn't resist at that price.:cheer2:
We found that a good way to do things as well was booking things independantly. If you keep an eye on the flight prices and see what you can get. You know that accomodation and car hire are a plenty. If you can get there for a reasonable price then the rest just falls in to place. ( last year we got Delta flights to MCO via Atlanta for £312 each and that was 10 days before we flew)
Good lick with your searching. There is a deal out there for you somewhere. !!!:wave2:

I had a quick nosy and compare holidays on both websites and Virgin came out way cheaper???

It's a shame as travel City were always very good prices.

Well done penderbelle - great price for half term and 6 people!

Sadly, despite the 'same great company' claims being made by Virgin, TCD are now nothing more than a travel agent, since the hotels will be booked (and repped) by Virgin Holidays, and flights are Virgin or Continental (depending on dates). Car hire is through Virgin as well, so TCD are effectively just a website/brochure with a phone number to get you through to the Virgin office on a number that tells them to answer the phone as TCD.....

We have never had good prices from TCD, they were OK out of season but school hols Virgin always worked out cheaper for us. Only time we did use them was for a last minute flight only but no availabilty anywhere else so we were ties to them and their price.

I think its a shame they dont offer the flights from other places as TCD did before as Gatwick and Manchester is very far for us but Cardiff wouldnt have been as bad
