I have always travelled with Virgin but this coming April I am trying TCD for the first time as they were cheaper and I have heard good things about them from my family. What are the planes like? Do you get tv's in the back of the headrests? What is the food like?

Its going to be difficult for some of your questions to be abswered right now, as EXCEL (the actual flight owners/operators for TCD) are changing the airctaft they use from 747 toA300 and a 767, so the set up will be completly different

You've got to go with an open mind . There are good reports and bad reports. We tried them for the first time last year as we were on a budget and had no complaitns. There was a delay of 3hrs on the way home but you could get that with any airline. I did like travelling to and from Sanford alot better than copping with MCO. If things do go wrong try and think of the money you've saved !!!
We've just booked up to go with a couple of friends and have made a point of booking two seperate cars. TCD qouted us nearly £1800 ( with dble baggage and pre seating)less than virgin. Thats alot of trips to Walmart!!!!

Hi, I can only go off my experience this year. We travelled with TCD and whilst the plane did look a bit tired it was comfy and the service we received was second to none. Drinks were included in the flight (even got water before they pulled away from the stand!) and the food was as good as any air plane food I have had. One thing I would recommend is the "free time" check in for a fiver each, which makes the return trip much better as you check your baggage in at a Mall and have the day to shop. No seat back TV's on our flight.

We are booking with TCD for jan 2009 due mainly to the huge increases in virgin costs during 2009 (2008 price £599, 2009 price £709!!!), we have used virgin for the 5 previous florida holidays but i can't justify the extra it will cost this time around. A couple of work mates have used TCD and will use no other so we will give it a go and see what they are like. The TCD rep on the phone alledges these are "BRAND NEW" planes so i would hope seat back tv's are the norm now??

What prices are TCd coming out with for 2009 then?

Thanks for all your replys. I am very disappointed if there are no TV's it is the only thing that keeps me sane in long flight. I did read somewhere you can rent a personal DVD player for $10 is that true? Or is it just first class?

we have flown we TCD twoice now after being used to flying with Virgin. TCD is basic, no TV's in backs of seat, thou it way cheaper, and it's easy driving down from sanford to orlando

When we flew with them this year I rented one on the way out for £10. It was really good and had games, films etc...on it. But I am not sure if they are always available or if we just got lucky.

Hiya
We flew with TCD in Jan 07 and couldn't fault them, we have also beeoked with them for Oct 08, and hope that we have as good as experience. It would be nice to have the seat back tv's but to be honest for me it isn't an essential and would rather save a few hundred pounds and entertain myself.

I booked first class with TCD to go in Nov 2007. When out NOT first class due to problem with the plain, but did come back first class. As most people have said it is basic. Have just booked for Nov 2008 and Virgin came out £16 more expensive. So for that price difference, Virgin will win every time. If it had been Over £300 then it would have been TCD. Always do check both of them. Out of interest it was £1365, 2 adults, 1 child, full size 4 door.

We have managed to get 6 of us in 3 rooms at extended stay i-drive jan 09' for £750 each including all the extras you have to pay for that are free with Virgin. I can only guess that the future increases in prices will put folk off travelling to orlando??
Any one know the reasons for the 30% plus increases from 09??

In the original post i put virgin was from £709, however when booking tcd i thought i would try Virgin one more time, i tried for Q I Plaza as we stayed there this year and really enjoyed it, but the prices were coming out at £919 for 2 adults sharing!!!! in january 09'????? at a quality inn hotel??? yet we can book 08' for £599??? £320 difference in 12 months, i think not.
