I looked at a garden view concierge room at Polynesian for next September (almost exactly 12 months away) at the Disney site and get a quote of about $4500 for 7 nights and a 6-day park hopper pass.

There was a travel agency that was recommended here (I forget the name at the moment, sorry) and I requested a quote from them yesterday. The quote came in today and was about $3 cheaper.

Would it behoove me to wait until later to make my reservation if it will save me some money (WILL it save me some money?)? In addition to the convenience of the hotel, the other reason for staying there was to go to the luau dinner during our stay. I see that it books out 2-years in advance! If I wait, am I screwed in getting a reservation for this, if it is not too late already?

I would say that if the availability is there, go ahead and book it. If an offers come out and your resort is available, the offer can be applied in the future.

As for booking with a travel agent, it's your personal choice in terms of what you are more comfortable with, but typically the price will be about the same. The only difference would be that if you book with AAA they can sometimes offer discounted room rates tacked into your vacation package.

There are no discounts out yet for next year so that is why both quotes are about the same. I would book with the travel agency if they will apply future discounts for you. That is what I am doing so I don't have to watch for discounts. One less thing for me to worry about!

You don't have to wait to book your room to make a reservation for the luau. You can call 407-WDW-DINE and make the reservation for the luau now.

Travel agents rates with Disney are rarely any different. The are other reasons for booking with one.

1) They find out about discounts sooner than you would (possibly, but with the Dis...)
2) They take care of everything for you!
3) Many agencies now will apply a discount if it becomes available, so you don't have to call and rebook
4) May offer additional services like ADR's and itinerary planning
5) Knowledgable source of information.
