I understand Disney is hosting the trapped miners and their familes Jan 27-Feb 2. Does anyone know where they are staying?

my guess would be the gf, I think its great that they are giving these families a trip of a lifetime! They deserve all the pixie dust we can send!:thumbsup2

I agree. I am happy that they are going to get to experience Disney! I had read that the rescuers will be on the trip too. It's great to hear Disney giving them this trip!

Rumor has it that they'll be staying in the service tunnels underneath MK.

Really why? Don't get me wrong, I am glad they are alive and well, but I think there are so many more Americans who deserve a free trip to WDW. Anyone know how many trips WDW has given to kids who lost a parent in the war? Or a free trip to a disabled veteran, or a child with cancer??

With only 16 posts, this HAS got to be a :stir:, right???

For real?? What does it matter if they are Americans or not? Disney is never going to be able to give free trips to everyone who is "deserving" so why question or begrudge these miners this gift?

This could get interesting.

I think the reason the miners are getting the trip is clear, we are talking about it because it was such as well known incident. All of the other examples given about who deserves a free trip are unknown people or groups by and large and thus we have no ideal if Disney has indeed given them freebies or not. From my personnel experience 90% of the good deeds large companies do for the public go totally unknown to the general public. I would think Disney is the same.

These miners deserve a little good luck IMO, they had enough of the bad luck for a while.

Now you gotta wonder if they are going to get their pictures taken with the 7 Dwarfs or not. :woohoo:

I remember seeing that particular one on the morning news show somewhere and he was so hoootttttttt!!!

Pretty much: They're getting a free trip because the cost of providing it to them is much less than the PR value Disney will derive from doing so.

Disney already does plenty for those who are deserving and to single out this one group is just plain unfair and wrong. So what if they are not from America, is that a reason to deny them?

Anyone remember give a day? wasn't that aimed at helping those less fortunate and in return Disney gave a free day for each person involved, what about GKTW and Make a Wish? I am sure that Disney has some involvement there as well and there is that little show.. now whats it called ... ah yes, Extreme Home Makeover, many families on there end up going to Disney

Disney supports many charities and rewards Cast Members who support them as well.

The grown ups (16 and above?) could be given a tour of the tunnels (Utilidors) under the Magic Kingdom.

Disney Marketing must have caught on to the fact that they're missing the Blue Collar Chilean demographic. Once this nefarious campaign bears fruit, folks around here will be complaining about obnoxious tour groups from Chile.

ITA, and Disney is a worldwide brand too. So reaching out to these people is great PR.

:lmao:

I think it's great that they are treating them to something nice after such an ordeal. I don't care if they are doing for public relations or sheer generosity. I'm sure it's all the same to the people getting the trips. As for whether or not Disney should give priority to American miners, trapped or freed, it's a small world after all.

I think it is terrific Disney is hosting the miners!! Hope they all have a wonderful trip!!
