Hey all,

Well, we are finally leaving for AKL next week and I can't wait. We are going the week after Easter break, so I think it will be nice and dead.
But here is my question. How is the bus transportation from AKL to the parks? do you have to wait long? And when there is a bus waiting, is there enough room for everyone to get on? Or do you have to wait for another bus?
I have used buses in the past to get to and from Epcot and MGM from the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian, but I've never had to use bus service from a BUS ONLY park.
Let me know your thoughts and experiences.
Thanks

I'm sure ChipNDaleExpress can fill in any gaps I leave here...but basically Bus service works the same at AKL as most everywhere else....the buses run regularly...and we've never had to wait more than 15mins for a bus.

While it is possible that enough people could be waiting to get on a bus...so that it reaches it's limit and you'd have to wait for the next....I've never persoanlly had that happen to me at AKL.
And there is a dedicated Bus route just for AKL to AK...which helps speed up the process...in fact, If I'm not mistaken all Buses leaving AKL to other parks are direct service.

AKL is WONDERFUL and you're gonna love it! Don't sweat the Bus thing...it works pretty durn well! :)

Oh...and the Bus stop at AKL....simply go out the same door you'll have arrived at the hotel at.....hang a left...and a very short covered walk you'll be there!

Hope this helps yer! :)

I agree with goofyposter. Our waits were always less than 10 minutes usually much less. Yes, the resort is a little further from most parks, but since you're not sharing a bus with other resorts, we really think it took less time to get most places. We loved the resort and found the transportation to be excellent! Have a great time!

Is there only 1 bus stop for the AKL? We just split our stay in June between the POR and AKL. This will be our 1st stay at both.

There is only 1 bus stop for the AKL. The reality about bus service is that it is probably the most efficient means of transportation at WDW; that doesn't make it the most magical. And if you have something against the busses in the first place, you will probably dislike the AKL's bus service. That being said, it runs pretty smooth at the AKL. It somehow feels like more of a pain to make a mid-day break to the resort, but it may take even less time than some other deluxes to return to the AKL from the parks. Where this is a real pain is at night after the parks close. The AKL has only three restaurants, and one of those is a fast food. This gets old pretty quick, but making a trip from the AKL to another resort for a meal is more difficult than any other deluxe resort. It doesn't have neighborhood resorts, so it is better to drive or take a taxi rather than taking a bus to DTD, then transferring to another bus. It is a real pain in the neck, and one of the only drawbacks to the AKL.

AK Lodge typically gets great bus service. AK Lodge buses do not participate in Magic On Demand because the demand does not warrant. Buses are Flex Dispatched at 15 minute intervals throughout the day. AK Lodge routes do not typically make extra stops, aside from the occassional sharing with DAK.

One common misconception... Although AK Lodge has the feeling of being "Way out there"... travel times to the theme parks are NOT higher than any other resort area. All theme parks are between 5-15 minutes away, if not less.
