My wife and I are thinking of flying in to Orlando, going to Vero Beach for three nights, then doing the 3-day bahama cruise. What's the best way, other than renting a car, to get to those places?

I have done exactly what you are asking. You will regret anything other than renting a car. Florida one way rentals are cheap and convenient.
