Transportation to outside attractions

My DW is a BIG (as in fanatical) Harry Potter fan, so we are going to visit that "other" park in September. In the past we paid 20 bucks per person for a round trip Mears shuttle; what is the current price and are there any other alternatives?

I thought about renting a car, but I can't believe the rental plus gas plus parking fees would be cheaper.

Just hop in a cab. Its not cheap, but it is not more than a car rental and alot more convenient.
