We are staying for a week at the Poly in late September. My DS (8yr) really wants to go to Downtown Disney for the Lego store and T-Rex restaurant. How easy is it to get there and is it worth the time investment to travel for just those two things? Any opinions appreciated.
Thanks

Disney bus transportation takes you there from any Disney Resort and yes, we love wandering around Downtown, so it's well worth some time out of your vacation - be sure and pop into Giradelli's for a free chocolate!

We like to head to DTD after a day in the parks. If you're at a park that closes fairly early, just take the bus to DTD from your resort. It's a fun way to spend a few hours. You may actually find that you enjoy the time there as well...it's not just for kids!!

We always have a day at DTD as a break from the parks. Usually lunch (Wolfgang Puck Express) through dinner (Raglan Road). Since was also stay at POFQ, we usually end up there for at least one more evening for dinner (Earl of Sandwich) and treats (Goofy's Candy Company).

We stay at the Polynesian and we have been to DD several times from there. We always enjoy it, but it can be very time consuming traveling back and forth. Allow at least an hour each way. Another possible option is a taxi. We haven't done it in awhile, but it used to be that you could request a taxi with a car seat. I think if you go to the website, you can even estimate how much it would cost to do this.

It's always worth a trip to DTD. Besides the Lego store, there are the Lego displays, the Disney store there is amazing, Once Upon A Toy store, the Christmas store, Ghiradelli,. So much to see. It is not difficult at all to get there. Strolling walk from the bus stop. You could get off at Pleasure Island and it would be a bit faster but why miss anything?

I would avoid going on Fri. or Sat. it is very very very busy on the weekends. Currently the marketplace bus stop is closed and the Pleasure Island stop is the only bus stop do to construction.
