We are going to Disney in May and want to spend a day at Cocoa Beach so we can see and swim in the ocean, none of us ever have. I have googled shuttles and found only 3, 1 was far too expensive and the other 2 had HORRIBLE reviews. Has anyone ever used any transportation to get to Cocoa Beach? Renting a car is NOT an option. Any help/suggestions are needed!

WE are doing the same thing and are renting a car. Much cheaper!

Do you mind telling me what you are paying? We were going to go with Royal Shuttle Services out of Cocoa Beach, for the 5 of us was 175 round trip. My husband does NOT like driving places, especially busy places so I cant picture him agreeing to make the drive.

I know you are against it now, but I really recommend renting a car. For several days worth of renting, it would be more than the $175 price you are being quoted, but possibly not much more, plus you get to keep it longer and you can decide exactly where you want to go, rather than possibly some area you don't want to be dropped off at. If you can find a one-day rental, it would probably be quite a bit less. And you can pick up/drop off on WDW property at the Car Care Center or at the Dolphin Resort.

If you want a nice stretch of beach in Cocoa Beach that's not too crowded (also fewer restaurants, etc.), go south of 528, 520 and even Minutemen Causeway, and park at one of the beach front metered parking areas on 1st through 5th or so Streets South (numbered streets go west to east, generally ending at the beach). You'll pass all the touristy stuff (Ron Jon, the high rise hotels, etc.) and go by a "Welcome to Cocoa Beach" sign before you get to this point. Very quiet there and the beach is quite wide. We prefer the 4th Street S. lot. Remember, there's not much there in terms of services, stores, etc. here so bring what you need with you if going here.

As for driving in busy areas, getting to Cocoa Beach from Orlando, even WDW area, could hardly be easier. Just get on the B-Line (528) headed east. You may need to get on I-4 (headed east) a few minutes to get to it, but it's really not bad. 528 tends to be a very quiet road, though it is a toll road. When you get to Cape Canaveral, turn right when you come to A1A (the beach road), and Cocoa Beach is just down the road. Budget about 80-90 minutes each way.
HTH.

You can get a rental car for about $50 for two days. The drive is easy. I would never take a shuttle over there too much $$ We have rented a car to go from WDW to the port to take a cruise and only paid $26 including gas.

OK I'd consider the whole renting a car thing, but have a few questions. Maybe you can help, maybe not. 1 how do I even rent a car? 2. How will I get a booster seat for my 5 yr old son. 3. Can I pack our GPS? Is that allowed on a plane?

$109 for 3.5 days! There are rental cars all around WDW. We got ours through National and it was $30 a day.

You can google disney car care center or go to national car rental and enter disney car care. They will pick you up,at your hotel. You can rent a booster seat for $10 there. They have GPS available or you can bring yours. If you have a smart phone, just use that.

Thanks! I will look into it, we only need it for a day, not even overnight so Im hoping it's cheap and I'm praying the drive is not bad as my husband will be so upset at me if it is. We live in Wisconsin and he doesn't even like driving in Milwaukee. I just checked and I can bring my sons carseat for free on the plane so I can do that, I do have a smart phone but if I can bring my GPS I'd rather do that then waste my data using it that way. THanks everyone for the help.
