Transportation timing

We are a first-time disney family and have a question about transportation back to our resort. We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge 1/1-1/5. On 1/3 (Friday) we have a PS at the Rose & Crown Pub at Epcot for 7:30 to view Illuminations. I would like to ride the monorail back to the TTC and then pick up the boat back to the Wilderness Lodge afterwards. Will this be possible? Thanks so much for any info -- these boards are incredible places and the people are terrific!!

WL has boat directly to MK. There is also bus from Epcot or TTC. Thus, coming back from Epcot you will have following options:

1. Bus to WL from Epcot; likely fastest option.

2. Monorail to TTC and bus from there to WL.

3. If and only if MK is still open, you can take monorail to TTC, then second monorail (or boat) to MK, and then boat to WL. Be aware that will take a long, long time because if MK is still open after Illuminations at Epcot, huge numbers will be going to MK from Epcot and thus wait for both monorails will be very long.

Thanks, drusba, for the advice. Not sure which way we will go now, but think this will be our only chance to ride the monorail. Will have to do some more thinking about this one!

Mom2DS,

If you have any non-park days scheduled, you could ride the monorail then. Thats when we rode it. We slept in one day, then spent some time at the resort pool, then took the bus over to MK (not to go to the park, but to catch a boat to the Poly), then rode the monorail. After the Monorail ride, we took a boat to Beaches and Cream and had burgers. Then caught a boat, followed by a bus to get back to our resort. Another option, that I didn't think of until it was too late.....we checked in to the resort about 1pm and we did not want to burn a full day's ticket for just part of a day at a park, so after getting unpacked, we spent some time at Downtown Disney and at the resort pool. Had I thought of it, we could have easily fit in our excursion to the monorail on that day.

Thanks so much for the suggestion! Unfortunately, our trip will be very short, so we've got every day pretty much booked. I really did want my boys to experience the monorail though (since this may be our only trip), so I think we'll probably just ride it back to the TTC and then bus over to the WL. If we have to deal with a crowd, so be it -- at least it will be a crowd of happy Disney'ers!!

Thanks again for the input,
Dawn
