Transportation Monorail Question!

We have a P/S for Chef Mickey's our first night at WDW at 7:30pm. Ideally we would like to drive to TTC and park there using our annual pass, then catch the express Monorail that goes to the Polynesian, GF, MK then the Contemporary. We would then observe the MK fireworks at 7:00pm at the Contemp observation deck before CM's PS. Since MK closes at 7:00pm that night will the express Monorail still be in service after our PS at CM to get back to our vehicle at TTC? Any other suggestions about transportation or activities before our CM's PS would certainly be welcomed and appreciated! Thanks!

I believe the express monorail runs from TTC to MK only. The resort monorail is the one that makes the stops at Poly, GF, MK, CR and TTC. When we stayed at the GF during Dec. and the closing of MK was at 7 pm the monorail ran until I believe 10 pm. Someone else may have a better memory than me.

The last resort monorail will depart the Contemp. 2 hours after the last theme park closing. So, if epcot closes at 9, the resort monorail will run until 11. The TTC is the first stop after the Contemp. Have fun!!

Your plan sounds great, but, I'm not sure how getting out on the observation deck is going to be. Chef Mickey's is in the lobby area of the Contemporary, and your going to have to go up to the top floor to the California Grill, go through the restaurant, and out to the on the deck. I've never had a problem doing this in the daytime, but they aren't open in the day. I'm not sure if anyone will say anything if you don't have reservations and aren't actually eating at California Grill... like I said, no problems in the day when they aren't serving, but never tried doing this at night when they are open for dinner.... Probably won't have a problem, but you may call them up first.

While you could park at the TTC and take the resort (not express) monorail to and from dinner, why not just park at the CR enjoy dinner and take a spin around on the monorail before or after dinner from there?

BTW I believe the resort monorail runs until at least 11:00 every night. If MK is open late it will run even later but even if MK closes at 7:00 the resort monorail will operate until 11:00. I don't know how long the little trams at the TTC run though?

At any rate, if you park at the CR you will have no worries!

Could you park at TTC and then take the express monorail to MK, watch the fireworks from the boat launch area and then walk back over to CR (or take resort monorail)? It's only about a 6 minute walk from MK to CR. I'm not sure you'll be able to watch the firworks from the observation area. It may only be for California Grill patrons.

I believe that the observation deck on the California Grill level is now restricted to patrons of that restaurant but there is an observation deck on the 4th level that is open to all. I've never been out on that one but any CM could help you. It's on the same level as Chef Mickey's.

If the MK closes at 7:00, you'll be fighting crowds heading the other direction... your best bet would be to park directly at the Contemporary, and then just joy-ride on the Monorail. The Monorail is open until 11:00pm every night, later if the MK is open past 9.
