My sister may join me for a couple of days on my upcoming trip. I'm on a package & she won't be. My TA said that she can't use DME, because she won't be on the same package. If this is correct, how is the best way for her to get from MCO to the resort on the day she lands? Does Mears still have shuttles?

What about the return trip to MCO? Can she join me on that?

she can use DME if she is staying at a Disney resort and listed on the ressie.

If she is staying with you and you are on the DDP then she needs to pay for it to for the whole trip.

It would seem to me that if she was staying with you at the resort, package or not, that you could call Disney and have her added to the reservation. Once she is added to the reservation she should be able to book with DME. I could be wrong, but it sounds logical enough.

Good Luck!

Terk,

Your TA is just WRONG WRONG WRONG. Tell her CleveRocks said "Package schmackage!"

Booking a package has NOTHING to do with using DME. Someone could use a room-only discount code and pay Disney $50 to stay at a Value resort for one night and they'd STILL be able to use DME the same way as someone staying at a suite in the Grand Floridian with 10-day non-expiring park hoppers and the dining package.

The ONLY requirements for using DME are:

-- being named on a reservation at a WDW owned-and-operated resort
-- using DME only on your date of check-in and check-out from said resort
-- using DME only to and from said resort and no other resorts or locations
-- MCO only, Sanford airport is not included

Maybe not wrong.

Terk-1 is your sister staying in your room? If so she can only be added to your reservation if she books the same package as you. If she can't be added to your reservation then she can't take DME.

If she has her own room just make the TA book DME, or do it yourself. If she is in your room is she can go to the Mears desk and buy a ticket. Mears will probably transport her on a DME bus. She won't be able to, and won't need, an advance reservation.

Called WDW CRO and asked about this. Was told that yes she can be added to my room without having it effect my reservations/package, but that I needed to wait until the day I check-in to the resort. On check-in day, I can add her name as a room guest only, as I am allowed up to 2 adults in a room with no additional charge. The CM also told me that once her name is added to the room, that yes she can use DME, even if she is arriving after me. She said that the room reservation will show her name as a guest for DME to see when she checks in with them.

Call DME and ask for extra luggage tags. Tell them you may be paying the airline to check extra bags. You can give those tags to your sister. After you add your sister to your reservation, at your resort, call DME and make a reservation. As long as she has a reservation prior to her arrival at MCO the CM at the DME desk can print a voucher and let her ride the DME bus.

You might just ask DME if they can print a voucher for your sister. Telll them she will be added at checkin.

What allows her to use ME is being on a room reservation for that night, her own or someone else's, a package or just a room.

Now she does need to reserve ME in advance, the "rule" is ten days, 30 days preferred, although reservations on shorter notice have been made and honored.

Technically, you can book DME the day before you travel, you just won't get your packet with vouchers/tags. I booked about 5 days before my trip and had no issues whatsoever. If you do check luggage, and you don't have the yellow luggage tags, you have two options....grab your own bags and take them on the bus with you, or give your baggage claim slips to the CM at DME desk and they will copy them in order to get the bags and take them to the resort for you. Either way works.

What we will do is I'll just take a larger suitcase with me when I go and she can pack her clothes in with mine. This way she won't have any luggage to check and can just get off the plane and walk straight to the DME counter.

As far as adding her to the room in time for DME, the CM said if I added her the day I arrive and give them 2 days, then it won't be a problem.
