My son and his family are flying from Portland into the airport at Long Beach on a Sunday afternoon in April and will be taking local transportation from there to the Grand Californian, where we will meet up with them. I've found lots of info on Mousesavers about taxis, shuttles and public transportation from Orange County Airport to Disneyland, but can't find anything from Long Beach to Disneyland.
Any suggestions on the quickest and best way to get from LGB to DL? Taxi, shuttle, limo, etc.? There will be 2 adults and 3 young children (ages 4,6,8) so a limo is probably not cost effective for them.
Thanks for any hints or tips.

I always take a taxi. Going to cost them around $40 (give or take) + tip flat rate to the hotel.

They always charge more coming back from the hotel to the airport, however since they charge mileage instead of a flat rate.

We used a car service that was recommended by serveral folks here. Kim Sontha Transportation (562-396-8106) He met us at the luggage claim and had the car waiting. We had hime pick us up at 5:00 pm on our departure day and he was there waiting. It was $50 each way and he showed up in a nice SUV.
A cab will be a flat rate going to the hotel but metered going back to the airport. If you hit traffic it can really add alot of $$$$ to your fare

We took a van taxi from LGB to DL. It was $45 flat rate back in July. On our way back we called the same company to come out with a van. We asked how much it would be and he said $55, we asked if he could give us the same $45 rate and he said sure...doesn't hurt to ask. Make sure that your son brings car seats for the kids. It is not considered public transportation and you have to have your own car seats with you, for the 4 y/o at least.

I am planning to use either the Kim Sontha car service recommended here or else a van taxi to get from LGB to Disneyland next month.

If I order the van taxi:

Will I need to order a van taxi when I get to the airport or are there likely to be some waiting around the airport (I'll be arriving early afternoon on a weekday)?

If I need to call for one is there a particular cab company anyone can recommend?

Also, will I need to negotiate the rate ahead of time or do all the van taxis charge the same flat rate from LGB to Disneyland?

Thanks for any info!

Thanks for all the info, it really helps. I hadn't thought about the car seat and will mention it to my son.

HoJos to ask if they're still in business. They charged the same as a taxi but you got a huge van. They could easily seat a family!

I noticed that Gray Lines offers transportation from LAX. I don't know if they do other airports or not. That might be another option!

If you go to the Long Beach Airport website, there is a list of cab companies and numbers. That's how I got the flat rate to the hotel

The taxis have the info posted inside of the flat rates...the port for cruises, disneyland, and a few others.

There is only one company that I have ever seen waiting outside and if a van is not sitting out there waiting, there is a little "hut" type thing that someone from the cab company sits in and he will call one for you. We have never had to wait more than a few minutes for a van.

If you want to use the same cab company on the way back to the airport just ask for their card and you can call them when you need to be picked back up (make sure you ask for a van) On our way back to the hotel, they sent a 15 passenger van for the same price.

Has anyone taken a metered cab back to the airport - if so, how much did you end up paying? We have a ride to DL, but now I am concerned it is going to cost a fortune to get back. If you remember, about how long did it take? Our flight is on a weekday at 11AM, if that helps.

They did give us a flat rate back but the meter was still on so I looked at it as we got out. It was 56.xx. I would say at most it would be $65, but we did hit some traffic and it still wasn't that high.
