transportation from BW to GF

Depends on the time of day.

When the MK is open, take the bus from the BW to the MK, and then get on the monorail for the GF.

If the MK is not open, you'll have to go through Downtown Disney.

There's always the options of walking through Epcot for the monorail (That takes a lot longer than you would think), or taking the boat or walking to MGM and getting a GF bus there (that's also a time consuming option.

You can always take a cab. Cab fare is about $15-17 including tip, depending on traffic.

Ducklite-

I was so pleased to see your reply about travel times from the Boardwalk area. As I consider these hotels instead of monorail resorts I always seem to read VERY optimistic transit times. Your assessment seems right on the money and gives me a more realistic view of what I'm prepared to do with 2 little ones and no car. Correct me if I'm wrong but it sure seems that the Boardwalk area resorts are greatly enhanced by having a car at your disposal. Thanks for the info! Threehearts

Threehearts-

Actually we usually stay at an Epcot resort, and usually don't have a car. Other than getting to other Disney resorts, the Epcot resorts are very convenient to everything by WDW transit. You walk to Epcot. Walking In to Epcot is less than ten minutes. It's getting all the way THROUGH Epcot and to the monorail that takes a long time. You can walk or take the boat to MGM. It's a 7 minute bus ride to the AK, and a 12 minute bus ride to the MK. Because you can't park right at the MK (you have to park at the TTC) it's much quicker to use WDW transit to get there. The Epcot resorts are a 6 minute bus ride to PI/DTD.

The only time we get a car is when we're planning on doing things off Disney porperty.

We stayed at BWI in Feb. and took a cab to GF. It cost around $12 with tip and took about 10 min. It was very easy. Otherwise we used Disney transport. for everything else and we did AK, MK, Epcot, MGM and DTD. Our longest experience was coming back from DTD as we had to stop at TL and CSR which had 5 or 6 bus stops... but on the bright side we got a perimiter tour of that resort! No doubt it is a little inconvienent to wait for busses or stop by other resorts before yours but we like not being responsible for a car, doing the parking and the busses drop you off closer than the parking lots.

Ducklite- thanks for the additional info.. We would like to try the Beach Club for the resort experience but we will also be spending a lot of time at the MK and the Neverland Club at the Poly. My kids have gotten to know the CMs over at Neverland and now don't want to be in another club. In light of our plans will we still be okay without a car? Also, DISers speak of the short walk to the Epcot restaurants- We will not have APs so doesn't that mean we cannot go to those restaurants on non-park days? Thanks for all the advice. Susan

The bus to and from the MK is fast and easy. We seldom waited more than 5 minutes for a bus. Did you know that the BC has the Sandcastle Club and you can also use the harbour Club at the BW? While not quite the same as Neverland, my son liked both of these just fine. I'd suggest that you tell them that they need to try one night in one of the other clubs, and if they do'nt like it they can go back to Neverland.

That's right, you can't enter Epcot without using a park day, even to eat. But there are a ton of restaurants within a five minute walk of the BC, including the CB at the Cape May Cafe. Other restaurants in the area include the Yachtsmans Steakhouse, Beaches and Cream, ESPN, the Flying Fish, and the Boardwalk Bakery, just to name a few.
