We're flying into Orange County (SNA) and staying at Desert Inn on Harbor Blvd.

What are my transportation options? Roughly how much is a cab? There are 5 of us. Shuttle's charge per person, right?

With 5 of you, a taxi van is probably your best option. Estimate about $37-40 each way + tip. You can get a flat fare on the way to the hotel, but make sure you try to negotiate a flat fare on the way back, or they will charge you mileage, and that can be a lot more expensive.

I know that Super Shuttle charges $10 per person 3 and older from SNA to the DLR area. There are coupons to be had, like in the Entertainment Book, but if you can negotiate a price like dangermouse suggests, that's definitely a better route to take.

I don't need to worry about the trip back as we will be renting a car from Disney to go to San Diego.

You won't need to negotiate a flat rate to the hotel. The taxi drivers are under contract with the airport to provide a flat rate to the DLR area. Just confirm with the driver what the rate will be before you get in the cab. They will quote you somewhere around $37-40. I don't remember exactly how much it was the last time I used it, but it was $35-37 range about 3 years ago.

We so prefer a cab over a shuttle. We don't have to wait for anyone. At the airport here is a long taxi line with both sedans and vans
