Transportation for scooter to off-site hotel

Main reason why I would stay onsite for my next trip is for transport of my scooter on DME and for transport to and from parks. I will be going solo and will not have benefit of family member to assemble/disassemble my scooter in and out of rental car trunk.

I'm considering staying off site to see if it will save money. Not concerned with other onsite perks like extra hours, etc.

Haven't crunched the numbers yet but want to know if it's even an option.

I'm assuming Mears can transport scooter w/o disassembly for airport to hotel.

Does anyone know if any of the discount hotels which have limited free transport to the parks can accomodate a scooter?

Thanks

I have never stayed off property since needing my scooter so I can't answer
about that. I have heard reports that have said it is very difficult. I do know that the Mears Taxis can transport a scooter without disassembly.

And remember, that transportation from offsite hotels to Disney may not be directly to each theme park!

Orlando LYNX buses are HA and service the TTC but you may have a long commute and limited service hours.

Thanks everyone. It was a crazy idea, and even if there were a few dollars to be saved, and I'm not even sure there would be, it doesn't sound like it is worth the trouble.

Legally (under the ADA), if a hotel provides free transportation the transportation must be accessible.

Earlier this month I went to a convention at a major Resort Hotel in Reno. When I got to the airport their lift van was out of order, so they contacted a taxi company to send an accessible taxi to the airport for me, and they picked up the $15+ fare when I arrived. When I left their lift van was available.

Especially at some of the smaller off-site location which use shared bus services (and very limited daily service) you may find it impossible.

Mear's Transportation does have about 20 accessible cabs, but generally they need reservations as thee territory is very large.

One other option is to use a regular taxi, and have the driver do the disassembly/load and unload/reassemble, but you will have to know what to do so you can give directions.

Current taxi fare in the Orlando area is $2.40 for the first 1/4 mile and then 60¢ for each additional 1/4 mile (or 80 seconds of waiting time). In addition, there is a $0.50 surcharge on all rides (except the surcharge is $1.00 to or from the airport).

I have seen a recent report that this is the 5th highest taxi fare in the country.
