How do you get from the airport, to the resorts, to the cruise and then back to the airport? We are DVC members. We really don't need a car at the resort and don't want to take the shuttle down. Do you rent a car just for the day? If we did this it would mean 3 seperate car rentals- one to get us from the airport to the resort (So we'd have to have a car rental place on Disney property to drop car off at) then, pick a car up from the same rental car place on Disney property and drive it down to the ship, drop it off go back when we return and re rent to take it one way to the airport and go home. There must be an easier way. What do you do?

Your choices are to rent the car as you described, use DCL transfers (or Mears transfer for the airport to WDW), or to use a private towncar rental. The break even point for the towncar is 3 people (you pay for the vehicle, not per person.) If therer are more than 3 of you, this option is cheaper than DCL transfers. It also has the advantage that it runs on "your" schedule, not their schedule.

We take a car service such as your ride from the airport to the POR where we are staying again. Then we splurged a little bit and hired a limo to take us from POR to the port. We are a family of 5 and we got round trip from POR to the port and back from the port to the airport for $250.00 plus tip. Total it will cost us about $350.00 for the 3 stops but it is easier for us to do it that way than rent a car and we dont want to deal with trying to get to the port by ourselves. The limo will give us a complimentary grocery stop, a disney plush character for a "ride along" to the port, disney movie of our choice, a booster seat for our 5 year old and complimentary soft drinks and water. Last time we did this we used your ride for the whole thing. They took us from airport to the Poly (we did the 3 day land/4 day sea) and then we arranged for them to pick us up at AKL on the morning of the cruise (we went to AK for the morning and left our luggage with the bell desk at the poly) they took us from AKL to the Poly to get the luggage, then took us to the port from there. They picked us back up at the port and took my inlaws to a hotel near the airport because they were leaving early the next morning, took all of us including the inlaws after they checked in to the POR, picked inlaws back up at POR at 10pm that night and took them to their hotel and then picked us up 2 days later at POR and took us to the airport. It was veyr convenient and easy to do. I would suggest going to some transportation websites and getting some quotes.

Hi,

We have exactly the same problem for our trip in may this year.

We arrive two days before the cruise so need a car from orlando to the port, then a car to get us from the port to orlando airport when we come back from the cruise.

As there are only two of us we ended up with two car rentals. Is is worth shopping around as we usually book with Avis but found that for a one day rental their minimum charge was the two day price. We ended up getting it with Budget for the cost of a one day rental.

If you do decide to rent a vehicle it's worth checking out these sites for some info/discount codes:-

Good luck
