We are planning to stay at the Poly Mar 10-18. I am going to have a conference I need to go to on 3/11-13 at CSR probably @ 7am till the early afternoon, so I need some suggestions. please.

I am trying to avoid renting a car for the entire time, because when we stayed at the Poly last time, we never used our rental and we would rather not waste the money or bring 3 car seats if we can avoid it.

I few things I thought about and would like opinions on are:

1) Taking ME to and from airport and renting a car for 3 days, but is there a rental car company that will bring it to the poly?

2)Taxis. What do you think a taxi would run to go from the POLY to the CSR?

any options I am not thinking of?

thank you all ahead of time:hug:

I would take DME to and from the airport and then if you need a rental you can rent from the car care center or the Dolphin. You can get a shuttle from the Poly to the car care center (and back) and you can get to the dolphin by taking a bus to MGM and then boat or walk to the Dolphin.

To get to your conference without renting a car would be IMHO easy. Just hop on the monorail or boat to the MK and then take a bus to CSR. If your in a building close to the TTC you could also take the monorail to Epcot and then a bus to CSR.

If transportation to the conference is your main reason to rent a car it may not be worth it since you said you have been fine with WDW transportation in the past. We often use a cab for resort to resort transportation and its never been more then $15 plus tip.

tjmw2727-Generally I would be all for using Disney transportation. However the OP indicates that they need to be to the CSR by 7:00am. Buses start running around 6:00 or 6:30 and the OP could get to a park that early, but it would be nearly impossible then to get a bus from a park and then to the CSR by 7:00
OP, since you need to be at the CSR so early I would rent a car for the time you will be going to the CSR. Alamo is at the Car Care Center, and they do have shuttles that will pick you up and drop you back to the resort. Have you thought about splitting your resort stay? Stay at the CSR for the first part of your stay and then after the conference, move over to the Poly.

HelenK- your right I missed the 7am time, great catch. Although there are early breakfast buses I don't think it will help OP get to CSR.

If it were me I would probably still take a taxi to the CSR and then use WDW transportation back to the Poly or meet the family at a park etc. I don't think three one way tax rides will come close to the cost of a 3 day rental.

OTOH, Mousavers . com has great discount ideas so if you want to price out a rental that's a great place to start.

Even if it costs $20 a trip, $60 is not enough for a 3 day car rental. And that doesn't consider the time it will take to pick a car up and return it.
