Transport to Port Canaveral

Hi,

Can someone please tell me the cheapest way to get from Orlando to Port Canaveral? I need to travel from the Universal end of Orlando to Port and then from Port to WDW following the cruise.

I have opted out of car hire with my travel agent as I really don't fancy driving, but maybe hiring a car for 2 separate days to get me to and from the port would be the cheapest option?

You might try checking www.mearstransportation.com. I know they offer transfers to Port Canaveral.

You could also use one of the car service companies. Many of them offer a half hour grocery stop to buy goodies to take on the cruise with you.

We found it cheaper to rent a car each way. Rented from Avis going and Budget coming back.

The lines to get the shuttle back to Avis on return were a lot longer than the Budget line. We were the only ones and just hopped on the shuttle.

We also rented a car (Avis) last year to get from WDW to Port Canaveral. It was great!! The guys dropped us, the luggage and the kids off and drove back to Avis at Raddison Hotel to return the cars. There is a free shuttle bus back to the ship. It took our friends 1/2 a day and some aggravation with the Disney Cruise line bus. Not a big fan of Mears either, as that could take a long time. Found all the information on the cruise board site. There was a site (some guy Dave from Georgia) had some excellent information about different options. Maybe someone else knows the site and can post. Happy Sailing!

You've all been really helpful. I think I may try hiring a car and driving myself. Would I be able to do this from the hotel whilst I am in Orlando?
