Transport to Poly for church

My father and I will be attending church services in Luau Cove at the Poly in a couple of weeks. We'll be staying at Fort Wilderness. I told Dad that our best plan would be to take the first transport to the Magic Kingdom and take the monorail to the Poly. Is this really the best method? Dad seems to think that there might be a more direct approach because of the church services. He thinks he remembers that from his last trip in 1986.
