Well, the thread title basically says it all - can anyone give me any details about getting transport from ASMo to US/IOA.

We'll only be going off property twice, both times to go to US/IOA.
I'm pretty certain Mears is recommended by Disney (they have some kind of contract?), but can anyone tell me about their experiences when going off property?

I'd like to know
- who you used
- how you arranged it (ie, when did you call them - the night before?)
- how good they were overall
- cost!

Any other info much appreciated!

TIA :smooth:

Hi There

The last time we went to Universal, it was from The All Star Sports, we used Mears Transport.

We bought vouchers from Guest Services at the hotel, and we booked them the night before over the phone, they ask you for an approx pick up time. We then had to phone them 2 hours before we wanted to leave the park and make arrangements for pick up times.

I think the cost at that time was about $12 round trip per person, but this could have changed somewhat now as this was 2 years ago.

We had no problems with them going, they picked us up on time in a very large coach, but coming home they only sent a small people carrier for about 12 people, so we did have to wait for another car to pick us up, but it was no real problem.

Hope this helps.

Sue

We have been from WDW to US/IOA and SW using Mears on a few occasions and have always found the service to be excellent. :)

I simply phone Mears the day before we want to go and arrange to be collected at one fo their scheduled pick up times from the hotel. Then, as Sue has said, we call the return number a couple of hours before we want to be picked up in order to arrange our transport back from the other parks.

I think the first time we did this in 2000 the cost was $10 pp and the last time we used it in 2003 it was $12. You pay the driver on the way out and he/she will give you a receipt which you hand back to them on the return trip in order to get transported back.

As with everything in the US you need to consider that the drivers survive mainly on the gratuities that they receive so this is an additional cost on top of the standard fee. :)

Thank you both :goodvibes
Sounds nice and straightforward - this is the first time that I'm going to be 'in charge' (no parents), so keeping things as simple as possible is the key!

(I will definitely be tipping :teeth: )

Hi

We have just got back from ASM and the transportation is Mears. It was $14.00 per person for a round trip.

We used them a few years ago and would never use them again. Only because it took us about hour and half to reach Universal or Seaworld.

We booked a car for those 3 days and we managed a book a car for a really good price. I would check to see how much it is to hire a car via yescarhire.com or airlinenetwork.co.uk and work out the difference. Sometimes the extra pays to have your own flexibility and the malls close at 9:00pm so you can always do a little shopping or eat on I Drive after the park.

I don't even think I'm old enough to rent a car - I'll only be turning 21 when I get there and my BF will still be 20!

Luckily, we aren't interested in visiting any malls or I-Drive, so it's not really an issue. :goodvibes
