Transport between Disney and Universal?

I'm sure I can't be the only one who's ever visited both... LOL.

I would like to know what transportation you guys would recommend for me - I'm staying at the ASMusic resort between Oct. 28 and Nov.1. On Oct. 31 though, we are venturing out of Disney to head out for Universal's Halloween event, but will be returning later in the evening to our resort at Disney.

Any suggestions? Would a taxi or limo be best? Where would I find one to pick me up (and where the heck do they pick you up?)? Or would a car rental be better - is there one onsite? I heard people mentioning the Car Care Center but could not find anything on the DW site. HELP!

You have several options. You could book a shuttle with Mears. You call them the day before you want to go and they will give you pick up times. I can't remember what the cost is but it isn't very expensive.
Then, you could hire a towncar service. They will come, and go, on your terms, when you want to. It cost us about $60 for the four of us last fall.
Or you can rent a car. You can rent at the CCC through Alamo, or you can head over to the Dolphin and rent using either Alamo or National.
Personally, I like using the towncar service. You tell them when you want to be picked up, they appear on time, you tell them when you want to leave Universal and they'll be there.

We took a cab last year, it was around 30 bucks each way.

There were plenty of cabs waiting in front of CSR (where we were staying) and tons at Universal, where the first cab had dropped us off. We asked to be dropped off at Downtown Disney on the way back

I was happy we didn't book a shuttle or anything, because we were done at IOA 2 hours before I would have expected us to be (it was EMPTY!). I wouldn't have wanted to hang around Citywalk for that much time
