Does anyone have these? Do they change back and forth quickly enough to be comfortable? When I read up on them it said that in hot temperature they do not get as dark. Are they dark enough for confort? What about driving in the car? Do they get dark enough? Do you know if they come in bifocals?

Thanks.

My mom has had them in invisible bifocals. She didn't like them. They were not dark enough and often went dark in bright indoor light.

when we took aunt lissa to get new contacts i talked to the doctor about those. i said that i really wanted them. he explained that they really are not worth the money. they respond to UV rays. so they do NOT work for driving. there is a UV sheild on your windsheild! he also said that they take too long going from indoors to outdoors or vice versa to change. that most people he knows that has them are not happy. i have decided not to get them. i only know one person who had them and she didnt like them.

What Sonya said, they're not dark enough outside, and they're always tinted a bit inside. Everything has a yellowish tint to it. Yuck! I have my progressive lens glasses, and then I got a pair of just distance vision sunglasses, so they weren't as expensive.

Never got dark enough outside for me and you might as well forget about trying to drive on a sunny day with them. They were a waste of money.

I've had the extra dark transition lenses for years and love them. I wouldn't get glasses without them. Mine get very dark in the sun and look clear when I'm indoors. I've never had a problem with them. My husband also has them.

My current and previous pairs of glasses are/were Transitions. There have been changes in Transitions in the past few years (according to our Optician). I can tell that my current pair gets darker, and quicker, than the previous pair. There is a teeny, teeny, teeny tint when inside, but we REALLY have to look for it.

They don't get very dark when in a car. DH wears actual sunglasses when driving, but I don't.

This is the first pair of Transitions for DH, he got them because they were only about $20 more in a package that included what he was going to get anyway (anti-scratch, non-reflective.....)

Since we have 300+ days of sun here, it really has been nice not having to change from sunglasses to glasses (and vice versa) going in/out of buildings. I do wish they got darker in cars (they DO darken, I just want darker).

I think they're a waste of money AND I hate the fact that they always have a slight tint indoors. They make my new glasses look like "man glasses". They're a waste, as far as being an alternative to sunglasses goes. They don't get anywhere nearly dark enough to take the place of a pair of sunglasses. Then when I come back inside they take forever to change back to almost-clear. They don't get tinted at all while driving. I ALWAYS have to put on my old sunglasses for driving and if I'll be spending any amount of time out in the bright sun. I am so glad that my prescription didn't change much and I can still use my old sunglasses while outside. I will never again get this on my glasses and I hadn't just paid so much money for them I'd donate them or something.

By the way, I paid a LOT more for Transitions than $20.

Thank you all for your replies. Do each of you have the Transition brand of changing lenses? I was also reading about another brand but not sure of the name - Solar something I think? Are all of your glasses Transition or does someone have another brand? (he other brand was supposed to darken and lighten quicker as far as I remember.)

My original plan was to get the changing lenses (Transitions?) and a second pair of sunglasses just for driving or the beach. Im now no so sure because of the fact that I don;'t like the idea that they are tinted slightly when you are indoors.:(

Mine are the Transitions brand.

I had them and couldn't get rid of them quickly enough. I'm not sure of the brand....whatever they sold at Wal-Mart Optical. They didn't get dark enough outside to keep my eyes comfortable, and they never got completely clear inside, which drove me crazy. They maintained a very faint grey tint inside which I thought looked ridiculous.
