I see a bunch of posts on the DVC-Rent/Trade forum, where folks offer to trade xxx points for $xx/pt.

Yet, doesn't the POS state:

"Club Members are expressly prohibited from receiving compensation for engaging in any Transfer activity"

If I were to transfer points to another DVC member in exchange for $xx/pt, would I be violating the POS?

If we didn't receive compensation, why would anyone want to transfer points (except maybe between our own contracts)?

Please help me understand this issue. Thanks!

Technically it's not allowed per the POS. OTOH, it's done all the time.

It's generally believed it's in the POS so that no one has any recourse through Disney if something goes wrong.

Say you transfer 100 points to someone and they're suppose to pay you, but they don't. You can't go to Disney and get your points back saying you weren't paid, because according to the POS, you weren't suppose to receive any money in the first place.

This basically protects Disney from any disputes regarding transferred points.

Thanks for the reply, Caskbill. I was wondering if anyone was going to have an answer (saw 94 reads but no responses until yours).

So it's technically true that we shouldn't but the rule is not enforced by DVD.

I just didn't want to get in trouble with DVD if I do decide to transfer any spare points in the future.

Funny, I saw this question just after it was posted and I was waiting for someone to respond..........popcorn::
