Transferring Points to Another Member?

Was wondering how transferring points between members works? What happens first? How many transfers are you allowed to make in a year?

I'm curious as we are planning on taking our daughters and future son-in-laws on a trip in May to Disneyworld and may need some additional points for this trip (our list of people keeps growing, so now we need a two bedroom). We don't want to borrow heavily, so we may try to buy some points from another member. Was curious how a transfer would work.

Simply have the person who is transferring the points to your account send an email to MS. The email should contain his name and member number, your name and member number, the number of points to transfer, and the use year of the points (2002, 2003).

Ask the person to send you a copy of the email confirmation from MS for your records.

Remember, the transferred points retain all of their original characteristics: if they are BWV points, you won’t be able to make a reservation at OKW at the eleven month window with those points if you’re a member at OKW. There may be banking and borrowing restrictions also, but we have never had to deal with that...perhaps someone else can address that if it’s a concern.

Our contract with DVC calls for NO remuneration when points are transferred. Disney is aware that monies are "usually" exchanged; Member Services has adopted a "Don't ask, Don't tell" attitude around such transactions. I've been involved in 3 transfers......
