I am sure this has been covered before, but I need a quick refresher.
I am short on points for a January 2006 trip. I want to book it now, but do not want to borrow points from my 2006 use year in case my plans change. I need 26 points to get all of the nights I want. My use year is August at BWV.
If I find a willing DVC member to make the transaction, how does it work? I realize it starts with me paying the going rental rate, and the other member transferring the points to my account. But, what if I need to cancel my trip more than 31 days out? What happens to those points? Can they be banked like my regular August use year points?
Thanks in advance for the help.

(Said with humor!) But really, I think I understand....I will see if I can find someone with some August 2005 use year points who is willing and able to transfer points for the going rate. I don't see me cancelling any Disney vacation, but I just had to cancel a trip to Washington DC because my daughter got ill at the last minute (we were supposed to leave today in fact) and could not travel. So I want to make sure I can still somehow use the points - even if they went into holding.
