From what I see its standard practice for the transferer and transferee to exchange member numbers before the transaction takes place.

Is there any worry of having your member number floating around out there?
Anyone ever have any problems or fears of doing this?

It seems like it potentially could get messy.

Yes it does seem like a problem could happen perhaps MS could do the transfers with out releasing the numbers to each of the other members ,I certainly would not want any one having my number :scared:

MS can and does transfer points into peoples accounts when they only know their name/address. I have that points transfered into my account twice and never turned over my account number.

Lets think about it. Who would complain if points were transfered INTO their account. Name and Address is enough. Really, truely.

true enough, I think maybe I will bring that up with them for future ideas

We did a point transfer about a month ago with another member who (until that time) was a stranger to me. He just gave us his name, the name of the city he lived in, and the last 4 digits of his membership number. That seemed to be enough info for MS, and the transaction went off "without a hitch" for us. :earsgirl:

I think that is a very reasonable compromise! I've been wondering this myself as DH is determined not to borrow points from next year but rent some on a transfer. :p The whole reason we bought in was so we didn't have to pay cash for vacations anymore!
