Transferred points question

Friends of ours borrowed 4 points from us last year to complete a reservation, so when they got their points this year(march), they transferred 4 points back to us. My wife called yesterday to book 1 night in July and asked to use the 4 points with some holding points we had. The CM told her we can't use the transferred points until March 2020. Is that right? I thought transferred points keep their use year, so couldn't I use March 2019 points for a July 2019 trip? We have a September use year if it matters.

What UY were the points from your friend? It sounds like they are March 2020 points, not 2019 points. I’m guessing that when they needed extra points for a stay during their 2018 UY that it required more points than they had left in 2018 and couldn’t even be covered by borrowing all of their 2019 points. Hence the need to “borrow” 4 points from you.

Yes, you are correct but it sounds like they transferred 2020 points to you. You are allowed to transfer the current UY and one ahead.

I assumed they were 2019, I didn't know you could transfer the next years points. That makes more sense. Thanks for the repies
