We are * owners and are looking to stay * in * 2011.

The chance may be very remote, but we are thinking that there could be a owner that may want to trade points.
Would that even work? If a owner transferred points to me today, would I be able to use those transferred point to book a ressie beyond the 7 month window, or would MS see me as a owner and make me wait until the 7 month window, regardless of where the points come from? :confused3

Thanks,

WLL

Transferred points retain their original home resort and use year.

You would be able to use the transferred points at the 11 month window. transferred point keep the same resort and use year that you transferred into your account.

There is only one transfer in or out allowed per year. So you wouldn't be able to just trade back and forth.

General questions are fine on the boards here, but this thread has been edited as details such as use year, resort, dates, etc are not allowed as it then presents itself as a seeking trade thread.

Thank you.

Transfer is based on use year, so you can transfer more than once in a calendar year it just has to be for different use years.

But that still may be an issue if you bank the points once tranferred. I had a instance where I could not have points transferred into a UY because I had banked transferred points already into that UY.

I have a small number of points, so I want to ensure I understand the transfer rules. Here is a possible scenario. Although not critical, but for ease of understanding, assume everything happens in the same calendar year and that the year portion of the Use Year is the same for me and all transferring members.

Early in Q1 of a calendar year, I transfer into my membership points from Member A that has a Use Year within Q1 for resort X. Then, I transfer in additional points from Member B that has a Use Year within Q2 for resort Y. Finally, I combine these points and use them for a stay in Q3 at resort Z. Do I have this correct?

Thanks!

Don't look at calendar year. You have to look at Use Year. If your UY is May, you could transfer in points before May and bank them (you may have to bank them before the last four months - not sure on that one). Those points would have to have the same year (such as 2010 or 2011). Then you could transfer in additional points after May to use in that year. Someone could not transfer 2011 points into your 2010 UY.

Points retain their UY and resort. So X points never become Z points and Y points never become Z points until seven months out when they are all equal.

One transfer per UY. It can be in or out. So, if you decided to get someone to transfer you 2011 UY points, that counts as your 2011 UY transfer, regardless of what the UY is of those points.
