Transfering questions

I have a few questions about transfering...tried to search but the button didn't work.

I have a reservation for July. I want to upgrade to a 1bedroom. I am 10 short. I do not want to borrow from next year...have already done that. Don't want to leave myself dry next year! So I figure for about $100 I can upgrade to a 1bedroom.

If I transfer points from another member, do they have to be SSR points (like I own)? If I transfer them in and find out there are no 1bedrooms left can i bank those 10 points into next year? How easy/hard is a transfer to do?

Any other words of wisdom out there on transfering? Or should I just dip into next year and make life easy??

If it were me, I'd just borrow the 10 points and be done with it. I'd worry about next year, next year, LOL. Or maybe just keep an eye on Rent/Trade Forum and pick up some points for next year if/when I see a "good deal".

But if you want to transfer points in now, that's certainly an option. Since the reservation is less than 7 months away, it doesn't matter if the points come from another SSR owner or not. I don't think you will have a problem getting a 1 bedroom at SSR. AFAIK, you can bank the transferred points if you don't use them - subject to banking rules/deadlines.

You won't be "dry" next year if you borrow. You'll still have all of the following year's points. So unless you are wanting to take a trip that costs more than one year's worth of points, you are set. Borrowing much better than banking, imho. No deadlines to worry about. Only thing is if you cancel the res, those borrowed points stay in your use year and cannot be banked.

If you find that every year you need more than your set number of points, then you need to add on!

But put off transfers as long as you can. If you have the points you canborrow, do that. If you need to rent points next year, wait until then. Spending points doesn't affect the balance of your checking account, but renting points sure will!
