Had read that post on the gal whose brother-in-law's charges on his CC created quite a problem for her. Well, someone has said they would only transfer their points vs renting their points. How is this done and what is the difference?
Thanks

One may transfer points only to another DVC member. Once you transfer the points, they become the other party's points and you no longer have any control over them. So, they would be making their own reservations, banking them, etc... To transfer points, a three way conversation between MS, yourself and the other party is needed. Once done, it's done..

If one "rents" points to a DVC member or non-DVC party, you still retain control of the points. However, you need to make the reservation for them and you also assume liability for damages done by your guests, just as if you were present in the villa.

Yes, Transfer is a much cleaner transaction than a rental. WIth a rental, the renter needs to get in touch with the member for any little alteration in requests or schedules and all that... more of a hassle. With a Transfer of points, it's one phone call with the other member to work out the deal, a check makes its way from one member to the other, then a three-way call with MS to effect the tranfer and it's done.

I've been on both sides of rentals and transfers, and I'd take a transfer any day. That in addition to the protection it affords you from miscellaneous charges that might show up after the renter checks out...
