Transfer veterans- how did the conference call work?

I am in the middle of a transaction with another DISer to have some points transferred into my account. ( Yay! )

I would like to be in on a conference call when the points are transferred, just to make sure they go into the right account, have the right use year, etc. When I called MS to ask how the call worked, they made it sound like the conference call took place on our end. How does that work? We have conference call capabilities on our phone, but how can we avoid hearing the other member's personal info, such as account number and last 4 digits of their social security number? Can the member transferring make the call and then add in the person receiving the points?

At what point will I be able to tell if the points retained their original use year and resort status? I have heard that it doesn't always transfer as is, which might work to my benefit, but how will I know?

Thanks for your help!

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question but just wanted to say that I am glad you found the points you needed.:)

I tried to do a 3 way call when having points transferred into my account, and tried to no avail! In the end I gave the person I was renting from the information she needed, she called MS, and then I called and verified later. I supposed the person with the points could initialize the call and then add you in. It gets a little strange, as she will be giving MS all her personal info and probably doesn't want you to hear it, whereas she'll just need your membership number (not your 4 digit SSN). As long as you're clear on the UY you need transferred (depending on when you'll use the points) and the renter understands which points are being transferred, you should be fine. The renter can also check with MS about your travel dates.

All that said, the transaction for me ended up going very smoothly. Good luck!

Thank you for the kind wishes on getting my points! I posted last week about how frustrated I was with renters not responding to my emails and posts. As it turns out, another DISer is transferring points to me which is helping her out as well.

I must say the DISboards have always taken care of me with kind, honest people and straightforward information!

Thanks again!

I had points transferred into my account a month ago. The member selling the points called MS to get things started. He then brought me in on the call and the points were transferred. When the seller hung up, I was disconnected with MS and had to call back to make my reservation.
