Conference is not required. I remember I was asked transfee's DVC#, name and address.

All that is required by MS is the membership number of account accepting the points - although the name of the member is good to confirm the account number.

MS will provide the confirmation number (after the usual caveats about final transaction, etc.). You should provide the confirmation number to the other member so they will have all of the information, but they will need to call MS to confirm that the transfer has occurred.

Some like the conference call method but there is no reason for two people to be on hold. Trust is still the key element in transfers and in rental reservations.

MS wanted more than just the account number...seems that one cast member transferred into a wrong account and they are being more careful not to make a mistake like that again.

They also need the names on the reservation for magic band purposes.

Have done several transfers, account number is needed, but name and address is just to confirm the right account. MS will give you confirmation number, you should give it to other party for reference purposes so that in future any problem they have a reference to go with. Also let them know points will not show up online if resort and use yr is different then their membership.

Conference call is not needed but once one MS wanted the other party on 3 way call as well, most MS did not ask for it.

inside the 7 month booking window, any resort you wish (with availability).

from 11 months to 7 months, you can only book at that home resort.

Transferred points retain the resort and UY. So they still expire based on the date of their UY. And you can't borrow them, but you can bank them.

So if you transfer in Sept 2013 SSR points, they are still SSR points and will expire on Aug 31, 2014 if you don't bank them.

And if they don't match your UY and resort, they won't show up on line. So you have to call MS to use them to book.

So I need some clarification...

I have an BLT Oct UY. If I want to get some transferred points in order to make a Sept 15 reservation at BLT at the 11 month window, what UY would the person transferring to me have to have?

And if they transfer to me would I be able to use those points and then my own points to make one seamless reservation?

As long as you get the right calendar year, theoretically any UY will work for this situation. Assuming you were looking to reserve Sept, 2015; anything Oct 2014 to Sept 2015 could work. And if you wanted to bank them, anything that was bankable for the UY before would work also. Some UY's would be better from an insurance standpoint in case you didn't use all the points and needed to use or bank them for later or if you had to cancel or change. In general a UY closer to when you want to travel will give you more options and protections. As long as they are BLT points you can use them at 11 months almost seamlessly. The only issue is that currently you can't book them online so you'd have to call. Likely the best option is to book online with the points you own exactly 11 months out then call and add any time or substitute any points using the transferred points. I don't know for sure that they will reallocate the points using the transferred points if you don't have them at the time of the reservation though.

I was told that if the transferred points are the same UY and resort, then you'll be able to see them online....but I wouldn't count on it.
