Transfer points

We have a reservation for a family member already booked, but we are on a wait list for a different resort.

We are waiting for close on an add-on that has some points that will expire 4/2008. We were thinking of transferring in the 26 points from the new contract (different UY)and using them before they expire.

I was wondering if I have already made the reservation, then made the points transfer could I call MS and ask them to use the 26 points? Could they make a manual adjustment to the points, or would they have to cancel the reservation and rebook using the transferred in points?

I don't want the 26 points to expire 4/2008, it seems like such a waste, but we have not closed on this contract yet, will in about 2 weeks.

I don't know what to do.

Any advice would be REALLY appreciated.

It depends - what yo want to do is essentially a cancel & rebook so if there is a waitlist for any of the days of your reservation, you could lose it.

Could you add a day to your existing reservation? IF the DVC resort is full, maybe check the Disney Collection to see if the 26 points would cover a night at the GF or CR or where ever you've always wanted to stay?

Have you checked the Concierge Collection - maybe there is something close to home that would make a nice adventure for you and your spouse or you and a friend.

Is there someone you know who might like a 2 or 3 night weekday vacation in January (as a gift or thank you)? Some of the OKW studios are 8 points a night during Adventure season.

Maybe you'd like to donate a few nights to Give Kids the World - do a search if you're interested. Believe you make a reservation and they give it to one of their hard working volunteers. No tax deduction for this - just a good feeling.

Maybe others will also have some ideas for you.
