Transfer Points Question

I have an August use year, and have used all of my points for 2004 for my January trip.

My sister and I would like to take our 2 kids to Disney in November when her daughter is out of school for a couple days. Last year we used my points during that time of year and they LOVED BCVs.

So - we are thinking of doing that again this year. My question: Would it be easier to rent points from another member and have points transfered into my account? Or, should I just rent points and have the other member book it?

I like the idea of being able to book it myself. But have never transfered points etc. Is it as simple as it sounds?

Also, I know I need to work on this NOW. Last year was very busy due to the F&W Festival, and I had a hard time getting a room at BCV. Thanks.

have the points transferred to your account, this way you can make your own ressies and have control over the ressies.
and if for some reason you have to cancel the ressies then you still have the points in your account to make new ressies or can make changes.

it is very easy, find someone to rent you points, send the money, points are then transferred. i like when someone can acceot paypal, this way the points are transferred the same day when you send the money and before ms closes you can call and verfiy the transfer, and you can sleep that night.lol

WDWStar,
I figured it was that simple. I am trying to get a hold my sister and find the exact dates and will then check availability. Then, I will see if she is ready to commit and rent some points. Those non-DVC folks (ie my sister) are not good planners!

Also, I noticed you are headed to Mackinac Island in a couple weeks. Have fun, and be sure to bring a jacket. I live about 3 hours south of there in Wisconsin on the border of the Upper Peninsula. Our summer is slow coming this year, so I can only assume it is colder up there. Gorgeous though. And in two weeks, it just might warm up. :)

Well, points transfer is fairly simple, once you understand the rules (like only in or out in any given UY, cannot transfer banked points, etc.). Search for the thread "Points Transfer 101" just so you understand the parameters before charging ahead.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice Pumkinboy! I think what I should really do is just buy more points for myself! :)

But, until I can convince the husband of that fact, I need to potentially rent some points and have them transfered. I need to get my sister to commit to our fall trip first though. Once I do that, I will research more. Thanks again!

I just posted that I got BCV points in another thread and was going to look to transfer/rent them. PM me if you're interested:wave2:

thank you about the tip for mackinac island, we usually go in aug. every year and its always touch and go with the weather cool 60s. so this year we decided to try going earlier.

when your ready to rent points let me know and i can walk you thru , at this point you can use points from any home resort, less the 7 months away. the points just have to be put in your right use year, you said aug. so that means you are working on aug. 2003 use year, you will need points to be transferred into your aug. 2004 use year for ressies for nov.

wdwstar,
Thanks. If we decide to go and I need some points, I will take you up on your offer.

July is supposed to be summer up here, but man, it is the middle of June and I am still wearing a sweatshirt or jacket in the mornings. Right now it is sunny and warming up, but it has been cold and rainy for days. And since Mackinac Island is in the middle of the lake, it can be windy and cold there. But you have been, so you know.

My sister and her family love to go to Mackinac Island after Labor Day. Rates are cut in half at that time, and hardly anyone is there. Yes - it can be cold, but they stay at the Lake View Hotel and it has an indoor pool. They love having the island basically to themselves.
