Transfer and banking?

Can you do both in one year? I am buying a loaded resale contract. I will be banking my current UY points each year until we need them for a grand villa in a few years. A friend of mine as DVC and has a few points she will not be using this year. Can she transfer them to me (I will use them with my banked 2011 points)? When we close on DVC I will be banking my 2012 points.

Yes, as long as her points are current UY points (they were not banked or borrowed) she can can tranfer them to you as long as neither of you have done a transfer this year (you can only transfer - in or out - once a year). If she does tranfter them, they will keep their UY (month) and the resort. Once they are trasferred YOU can bank them into next UY if needed.

You know you can only bank points once, right? You can't bank multiple years to get a whole lot of points.

I was thinking the same thing when I read that. Points can only be banked once. It is possible to use up to 3 years points at once. In 2012 you can use 2011 banked points, 2012, and 2013 borrowed points, but that's it. I hope the OP knows this before he/she signed their contracts!

Slightly off topic . . . You can use 4 years of points if you have a good UY that corresponds to travel time. You'd have 3 years (banked, current, borrowed) that you use at the very end of your current-year UY ('11, '12, '13 with a trip in '13 but at the end of the month in the UY month). As soon as the 1st of the month hits (your new '13 UY), you immediately borrow the next year ('14 points) and continue the vacation. I would think this could all be done ahead of time, though it may require two different reservations back-to-back.
