Trails End vs Tusker House vs Plaza

Need some opinions and advice

Currently have Trails End Breakfast Buffet and Tusker Breakfast booked for different days. Trying to decide if I need to do 2 buffets. Kids are 11, 10 and 10 so I'm not sure how excited they will be to see the original characters. Are both buffets good?

I booked Plaza to replace Trails End if I decide to drop it. If I drop Tusker, we would prob do Flame Tree.

Thoughts? Would you keep both or replace one with another restaurant?

Where are you staying? Trails End is popular around here but we were underwhelmed, especially with the travel time it took. Breakfast fare IMO is pretty standard at Disney and I'd much rather have another hour in the park and not just traveling to/from Ft Wilderness.

So if you're planning to be at MK, I would stay at Plaza. I would not waste precious morning touring time traveling to Ft Wilderness.

If you're staying at Ft Wilderness, I would stick with Trails End assuming it's a PPO reservation. Or if you have the morning off, your kids would enjoy some of the things at Ft Wilderness.

I wouldn't get stuck on comparing the two due to both being a buffet since one is a character meal and one isn't. Sometimes getting to meet several characters while eating kills two birds with one stone and is worth it, esp if it helps your touring plans. Even if you end up with both buffets, they are different enough IMO that you won't feel like you're repeating the same meal.

For your kids age, I would absolutely keep Tusker. They'll love it. Characters are adorable and a lot of fun. But most importantly, the food variety is awesome!

Never tried plaza breakfast yet...so I can help you there.

Would definitely keep Trails End. It is a great family buffet in a rustic setting. We have eaten there for years and would not ever skip it. The children would love it, also the surrounding outside areas, plus a nice boat ride if you go from MK.

Have never eaten at Tusker, so no opinion.

So... I talked to my kids last night about the different options. Universally, they all said no to Tusker House. They said they would greet Mickey but absolutely no pics and no putting it on FB. Apparently, Mickey and the gang are for little kids. I thought I may have missed my window with their ages and character dining. So, I dropped Tusker House. I am going to keep TE late breakfast at the moment. I figure it would be a nice break from the crowds. Also considering Contempo Café and riding the monorail over to the Poly for a drink as the other option.

Apparently, my kids care about Jedi Training, rides, snacks and fireworks Glad to know now before we spent the money on something that they wouldn't rather do.

We like Trail's End and Tusker House and would not bat an eye about doing them in the same trip, but I agree with PP that I'm not sure if Trail's End is worth going out of your way for. If you're staying at Contemporary, WL or FW, then it makes it more convenient. It's a very small buffet and restaurant, but the food is good in our experience.

Tusker House is a must do for us and I would recommend keeping it. The characters are great, but the theme and atmosphere of the place is really unique and really transports you outside the park. We like the variety of foods at breakfast there.

The Plaza is nothing to write home about for us. Good, but essentially glorified quick service. The place is small and the fare is basic. I would do Trail's End before the Plaza, but not if it meant trying to get to Trail's End in the morning before going to MK (unless you're staying at one of the above mentioned resorts).

We LOVE Trails End - it's our favorite meal every time we go. Although our favorite meal there is dinner. And, we love Tusker House too. I would keep both. I'm often underwhelmed by the food on property but I really think the food at both of those are outstanding.
