Hi all,
We are considering renting a camper for our next trip. How comfortable are the fold down "beds" that are made up from the dining table and/or couch? Also, I noticed some campers have other interesting bed configurations. So, my dear camping pros....just how comfortable are these sleeping arrangements?
Thanks!
Anne

I'll be honest - I make the kids and MIL sleep there ;). But they are quite plush. They haven't complained yet lol.

The dinettes are usually uniformly comfortable. I don't mind sleeping on them and my Mom slept on ours a few times this summer with no complaints. The pull out couches are hit or miss. The ones that are in my parent's camper and my brother's camper have thin mattresses and you can feel the support bars. Our isn't a full bed, so the seat and the seat back become a twin sized bed. Because the back cushions are different than the seat cushions it is wonky, not uncomfortable, but wonky.

Our kiddos are the ones that sleep there and we have yet to have any complaints!

Depends on the age (ages) of the ones needing to sleep there! ;) Our children would sleep on anything/anywhere. Us, not so much!:(

We have camped for many years in most types RVs, but for the last 15 years we find most of the RV beds very stiff and uncomfortable. We buy our own, then transfer it to the new RV when we decide to buy again. The dining tables converted have never been comfortable to us (one thing, too short), but some of the sofas are not too bad (again, the ages of the sleepers). :goodvibes

We put a air mattress on our couch in the MH. We use exercise matts on dinette table. Works great. No complaints!
:thumbsup2

If ya pick me up on your way down to the Fort, I'll be happy to sleep on it for you.:thumbsup2

We have memory foam toppers for all of our sleeping areas, but that doesn't sound like a good solution for a rental.

It depends on the camper. In our current motorhome, I think the jackknife sofa is as, if not more, comfortable than the queen size bed in the bedroom. However, people who are more than 5'6" or so don't fit. I've seen jackknife sofas and dinettes that were even more limited in length, too. And we've had travel trailers in the past where the dinettes and sofas were not at all comfortable for an adult to sleep on, although kids and teenagers with young, healthy backs didn't seem to have a problem.

Absolutely correct! I agree 100%.

It's also unbelievable the awful mattresses that they put in some TT's, MH's.
We started several years ago buying our own mattresses and switching them out with the 'cheapie' (then when we sell/trade, we put the 'cheapie' back in).

We 'have' to have comfortable beds to sleep on. And of course, our children had no problems sleeping on anything! ;)

We just bought a new MH and the mattress in it was nice, but we still exchanged our own for it as we liked it better.
