Trail End Buffet-Dinner

We are looking for a reasonably priced buffet with good "American" food. Has anyone tried the Trail End Buffet at the Wilderness Campgrounds for Dinner? We have only been to the HDDR there and liked the food -is it similar foodwise?

We will be meeting people who do not want to go into the parks for dinner so we are looking for some options. We will be eating at Whispering Canyon and Boma on other nights so those are out.

I've never been for dinner (only breakfast), but by looking at their menu on www.allears.net, it looks like the food is somewhat similar to HDDR.

We LOVE Trails End for breakfast and would love to try it for lunch or dinner on our next trip. I still believe it is the best value in all of WDW, hands down!!

With lot's of good comfort food and is like that served at HDDR.Also some great soups and a good salad bar.Have a magical trip

It is one of our favorite place to eat! Dinner is great. They have the same chicken and ribs as the HDDR as well as other choices. The deserts are a little limited but really good. EVerything is "home cooked" taste and the price is really good for WDW. Breakfast is great too. The ribs are not there for lunch but the chicken is. We have never waited more than a few minutes and service is really good. Such nice Cm's. You can catch the boat over from the MK. Makes for a great trip.

Thanks so much for your quick replies! With three teenagers coming with us this sounds like a bargain! We love the food at HDDR but are trying to budget a little more since this is our second trip to the world this year.

Should I make priority seating? We will be a party of 7.

although trail's end doesn't take, if you get there early enought you might not have a long wait. otehrwise, its a great spot to people watch while you wait for you table.
we're having our welcome dinner here for our wedding, and as my fiance' just said "its cheap, and its freggin' good."
you can't beat this place!!

After hearing all these raves about it we might like to try it out, but I have no idea where it is in Fort Wilderness?!?!
Can someone tell me how to get there if we drive or if we take the boat from MK?

i can't help you with the driving directions., but getting there by boat is super easy:
~ take the ft wilderness/wilderness lodge boat from the mk to the fort.
~ get off the boat and walk straight
~ when you come to the fork in the road take it (thanks yogi!), that is to the right.
~ keep an eye out for the lawnmower tree on your right, immediatly before the fence starts. this is an old push mower that had a tree grow through it.
~ follow the path to the hoop de doo, but right before the hoop, you'll see a door set back in the building. that's trail's end.
~ its just before the dvc kiosk.
~ The kiosk is on your left, and trail's end is on your right.

WeOVED trails end! The chicken is soooo good! And the food is a SUPER value. The water told us that the chicken is the EXACT SAME that is served at th HDDR. The restaurant is next to the show. Have a blast!

Just wanted to add my two cents.

My family (hubby and 11 and 13 year old sons) ate dinner at the Trail's End last June. We drove and that is a little time consuming if you don't know exactly what to do. You have to park in the main area, then take the internal bus back to the Trail's End. We were there around 6:00 and had no wait. The food was great (try the corn bread--very moist and yummy), and service was very friendly. There's not a huge selection, but everything is fresh and tasty.

Next week, I'm taking my Goddaughter for her 16th birthday. I want to take the boat from MK and have either lunch or dinner at Trail's End. I think it will be a great break, and I just love the atmosphere. The wildlife was fun to see. Look for the peacocks!
